Estimating costs for vehicle repair?

I took my 1999 Ford Taurus in for a checkup and found out I needed the front 2 rotors and sway bars replaced. There's also a water leak in the reservoir, and I was curious if anyone could give an estimated price range as to what this would all cost. The place that I took it to says it would be around 580-ish to get it fixed up.

Added (1). The price only worries me because the place was a just a local shop my dad took it to while I'm out of state for a couple of weeks. I intend to get it price checked at other places like NAPA and Midas when I get back, but I'm not sure if small/local shops charge more for this kind of stuff.

Ford Taurus smells hot after driving?

I have a '99 Ford Taurus SE, 24 valve V6
It smells hot when we get home from any trips.
I constantly have to check the oil in it.
The car dealer we got it from had a newer engine put in it after it ran out of oil and seized up.
I swear I did regular maintenance to it. 5 quarts of oil burns pretty fast inside a month. Something was wrong with the first engine.
Are these engines notorious for problems? It's the only thing we have ever had issues with on the car.

130 amp alt good for 1200w system?

I have a 1999 Ford Taurus SE and I recently looked up stock alternators to see how many amps my alternator was putting out. Everywhere I look i see 130 amps and I wanted to know if that is good (higher end, lower end, or average). And if you could, give me an example of how many amps are bad, and how many amps would be really good for a 1200w system

How to get a dental pick that is broken off out of my car ignition?

My mom needs help… Somehow her great grandson stuck a dental floss pick in her older Ford Taurus car ignition… When she tried to remove it, it broke off! She said she's tried everything you can imagine to get it out and it won't come out… Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

2007 Ford Taurus Check Charging System?

01 What is it?

02 Can I fix it myself?

03 How much will it cost please?

This happened the first time 3 weeks ago. And it happened today and I've never had a problem with anything electric or the gauges on the dashboard.

Had it tested at Auto Zone (the battery) and she said it was a bad battery. Took it back where it was purchased still under warranty and he said the battery was good.

I figured I would let my mechanic check it out but the lucky bastard went on a two week cruise two days ago.

It's only happened twice in the 3 years I've owned it. 3 weeks ago and today.

Just looking for ideas so thanks and thumbs up to all who answer… Just give me time to get back and read the answers.

Ford Taurus gear shift sticks in park?

I have a '99 Ford Taurus SE. Sometimes the gear shift will get stuck in Park and will not come out of park into gear until after a lot of jiggling of the gear shift, mashing of the brakes, and lots of frustration. This doesn't happen every day, but it has been happening for months. I didn't think a whole lot about it at first because I thought it was maybe my brakes going bad (this is a "special" car anyway, as something has to be replaced about every three months). One time this happened and my brake lines burst, so I thought it was just something wrong with the brakes not triggering something.

Anyway, since my brake lines have been replaced, it's been happening more and more. A week or so ago, it got so stuck I had to restart the car twice and I thought I was going to break something in the column from pulling on the gear shift as hard as I did, but I finally got it out of park.

I've spent nearly a week researching what could be causing this problem. And a lot of answers have said that it is the brake light fuse gone bad. And if that is the case, the brake lights will not work. This is not my problem, being as how my brake ligths DO work. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this problem?

(Please, serious answers only and none of that "it's a Ford, what do you expect?" jazz).

If my power steering pump and pulley break, is there any other parts I may have to potentially replace?

Last night when I was driving, my power steering pump busted and also broke my power steering pulley. I have a 2002 ford Taurus. In the process of the pulley breaking off, the serpentine belt came off. It is still on the car so I just have to re position it once the new pulley is on. My question is through this incident, could anything else have broken? I just did a bypass pulley for the AC compressor last week. And I also replaced the serpentine belt last week.
