I was charged with a hit and run without insurance. What will be the consequence?

I'm 19, living in Ohio, with no previous record. I drive a Ford Taurus co signed by my mother who is the one who pays the insurance. I avoided hitting a squirrel the other day, straying left and tapping another vehicle who was in my blind spot even after I check my left mirror. Obviously feeling the contact, I looked back and she went onto a curb and kept driving. I analyzed the situation as safe to continue to drive, for no one was hurt, no car damage dealt, and she kept driving after I tapped her. She got my plate number and a cop found me and wrote me a citation for failure to control and hit and run, with no injury or significant damage to the car. The cop taking pictures couldn't even pin point where to take a shot for there was the smallest smudge of paint. She was just some snobby rich ***** who probably didn't take her benzo that day. After calling my mother, she told me she didn't pay the State Farm policy bill that month, so I won't be able to prove I was insured at that moment.

How should I go about buying a new car?

Not "new" as in brand new, but "new" as in new to me.

I'm 16 and I have a 1996 Ford Taurus with 175,000 miles on it. It needs new brakes, new spark plugs, new EGR valve, and the list goes on and on. It barely wants to start in the morning time, even if its 60-70 degrees. When it does start and runs like ****.

I need a new car before the winter comes because I know that this car has no chance. I think last years winter was so bad it just ruined my car. (Michigan)

I have a problem. I don't want to spend any of my money too fix it because I would rather save it up to buy a new car, but then again, I don't know if that is a good way to go. Please help me with any advice, and how to go about buying a new car.

Ford Taurus Subframe mount?

Ford Taurus Subframe mount?

Added (1). I have a 2002 Ford Taurus. While my son-in-law was doing the front brakes we noticed that the driver's side subframe mount was badly deteriorated. The front end makes a subtle clunking sound when driven. There was some disagreement between a few of us as to what happens if it fails and the cost of a repair. Does anyone have any insight into this situation?

Help Mysterious problems?

I have a 1996 ford taurus that i'm having problems with, first was a bad alternator… Installed a new one, then 1 month later it would start up then die… Installed a new fuel filter then it ran like new…5 days later it did the same thing, now it starts up again and dies after it starts, what could the problem be? I'm a do it myself kind of guy but i'm praying that it is not my fuel pump… That would be a nightmare, but i'm willing to do it. Get back to me as soon as possible please

Low growling sound while in park on my car?

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus, 150,000 miles, when I drove home today, as I put it in park, I noticed it started to make a low growling/grinding sound. When I switched out to neutral or drive or reverse, the sound went away. I have also noticed that when I'm parked uphill (like I'm now), it is harder to switch to drive or reverse. So my question is what that growling/grinding sound could be?
