As appears from its name, the Ford Explorer is aimed at exploring different places including those hard to access. The automobile will easily cope with this task since it is a full-size crossover available in either full-time all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive.
The Ford Explorer exploits floating roof design similar to that of the Land Rover.
The 5th generation Ford Explorer is overwhelmed with such cutting-edged features as:
- remote engine start;
- intelligent access (plus push button start);
- power adjustable pedals that have their own memory;
- a DVD entertainment system;
- active park assist;
- adaptive cruise control;
- cooled & heated front seats;
- a number of high technologies (MyFord Touch, SIRIUS Travel Link), etc.
The Ford Explorer is powered by one of the following engines:
- 3.5 L V6 (290 hp) paired with either the six-speed 6FSelectShift automatic or simply the six-speed 6F automatic;
- 2 L EcoBoost I-4 (237 hp) working in pair with the six-speed 6F automatic.
EcoBoost is the company’s proprietary technology aimed at increasing fuel economy.
