I want to buy a 2006 Ford Explorer Limited 4X4 for my first car. I'm debating which engine is better. The choices are a 4.0L V6 or a 4.6L V8. Which will last longer? Which is more reliable?
Added (1). The V6 and the V8 only have a 1 mpg difference.
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer. 4.0 V6. It sounds OK stock, but I want it to be a bit louder. Would I need to buy a new exhaust tip, or could they just attach the old one onto the new muffler? Also, would it sound good with just this muffler? I just want something deeper and louder, it doesn't have to sound like a F1 race car.
Checked the fuses
My vents will not work in my explorer. It will defrost and it will blow out on the floor but it will not come out when you put it on vents. Are they controlled by vacuum lines?
I'm thinking it's the front drive shaft (propeller cv joint ), because I feel it under my seat but, the boot is not torn. My question is, just how much turn play should there be? I can get an 1/8 or more either way I turn. It's not wiggly up and down or side to side, it's just the turning before the wheel itself turns.
Added (1). It does kind of clunk (lop sided spinning) upon acceleration.
Was wanting to get wheel spacers for my 05 ford explorer. Can't decide to go with a 1.5 inch or a 2 inch. Does anyone have a picture or could find one for me of a suv with a 1.5 or 2 inch wheel spacer. Greatly appreciated.

I just brought my 97 ford explorer in the shop for an oil change and I got it back and the check engin light is on but the engin runs amazing. Actually it feels sounds and looks good. The only problem with the car is the gas gage and when I fill it up it doesn't pass halfway
Awhile back I was given an iPod dock as a gift that plugs into the cigarette lighter and plays your iPod over your speakers. After the first use I took it out to charge my phone and it fell apart, I managed to get all the pieces out of the lighter but now it doesn't work. I thought it may have blown the fuse, but I checked it the other day and it was fine, but replaced it anyways just in case but it still doesn't work.
I have another one in the back of the car to use to charge my phone with so its not that big of a deal, but it would just be much more convenient to charge my phone with the front one, so my daughter could use the back for her DVD player or whatever.
(I know this is the text book definition of first world problems, and it's not actually called a cigarette lighter anymore but humor me, ok?)
