Should I get a V6 or a V8?

I want to buy a 2006 Ford Explorer Limited 4X4 for my first car. I'm debating which engine is better. The choices are a 4.0L V6 or a 4.6L V8. Which will last longer? Which is more reliable?

Added (1). The V6 and the V8 only have a 1 mpg difference.

V8 is better

I would go with the V8. Like you said gas cost difference is minimal. The Modular V8 is a proven engine, many F150s and all Crown Vics (Taxi and Police cars) have them.

V8 will cost you much more in the long run due to fuel costs. If you don't need that big of an engine for say pulling a boat or trailer. Why get it?

  • What kind of car should I get? How much will it cost? I want a convertible and a truck. Don't go telling me that's too expensive because I just want to get a price range and opinions at this point. Convertible: Used or new. Red, white, silver, black, dark blue. TOYOTA, HONDA. Truck: Used or new. Sliver, red, black. TOYOTA, HONDA, CHEVY, RAM, FORD. Which is best? What are the costs on all of these BRANDS?
  • Which of the 2 should I get? I'm 20 years old which of these two cars should I get: Chevrolet Camaro 2014 or Ford Taurus Limited 2014 the catch is looks I need something that turns heads
  • Can i get out of a ford lease early? Or get a new car early? After my 2004 GTO broke down, i was forced to lease a 2014 Focus, for 3 years and had to get extended miles. Its been about 5 months since i've had the car and so far i hate it. Slow, cheaply made, stereo is terrible, no traction in winter, i don't like it at all. Is there any chance of getting out of the lease early or turning it in without hurting my credit, or even turning it in to lease a different car. Possibly a truck or taurus. Has anyone else been in this situation?
  • Should Sears and Ford HIRE Dotard McTiny as their CEO and get profitable again! If he can get Foreign Diplomats and American Lobbyists to? Pay $350.00/night to sleep in a tiny room in an old Post Office and keep it FULL and VERY PROFITABLE, don't you think that he could come up with an idea to save 40+ thousand American jobs?
