Is a salvage title worth it?

I'm 16 and I would like a newer car but, I'm not rich. I would like a 2011-2014 Ford Explorer Limited 4WD. I don't car about resale value. I think I can make this work. I know someone I can trust so he can help get the car. I know someone who can get me parts for cheap. I can opt to go to a trade school for half of my school day where I can take auto body. That means I have a place to paint the parts and put the vehicle together. It's just a matter of whether or not it's worth it. I don't want to get a car from the 90s as I might have many problems with it. Thanks.

Added (1). Should I use Copart? Are there any other sites that sell salvage title cars?

Added (2). I'm doing this so I can show everyone in my school that I'm better than them.

Added (3). http://www.copart.com/c2/homeSearch.html?_eventId=getLot&execution=e2s1&lotId=18748074&returnPage=SEARCH_RESULTS

The one I found that isn't too bad. It doesn't look like it's going to need much. I won't do airbags or glass damage.

Changing oil yourself vs Dealer?

Many people say, just go to the dealer because it cost the same as doing it yourself.
Others say do it yourself because you get better oil and let the old oil drip all the way out.
I'm planning on changing the oil myself on my Explorer for the first time, should I do it myself or just take it to my local Ford dealer?

Which one is better?

BTW: This question does not include Jiffy Lube or many other quick lube places because they are scam artists and scammed some people in my family(grandma, mom).

Selling Price of My 2002 Ford Explorer?

I baught my explorer for $3900 and i come to find out afteer i buy it that the transmission, i believe, is failing. And i'm not paying that much to fix it so i want to sell it. Do you think i could get my $3900 back, with someone knowing the issue? Its in great shape otherwise.

2000 Ford Explorer squeak/poping sound?

My 2000 Ford Explorer is making a poping sound when I go over bumps in the road. I also know that the wheel bearings are bad on the front left and right. I was getting my tires changed and the guy said I need to replace the upper control arms on both sides. Is that where the poping sound I'm hearing is coming from? The wheel hubs are making a whistling noise. Plus I checked and they both have a lot of play.

Why my car won't turn over/catch immediately After turning it off. Also my reservoir keeps overflowing?

I have an1999 Ford explorer. I recently changed my radiator, thermostat, condenser and top. And bottom hoses(radiator). I drove to the gas station which is about a mile. From home. I turned the the car off, got gas and tried to start the car and it wouldn't catch. I waited ten minutes tried again. It came on and i drove back home, meanwhile my reservoir is spilling over… Even though i emptied it before going to the store with a large syringe. My exhaust stinks and its white smoke. My car was not doing this befor the. Repairs. Can anyone let me know what's wrong and how to fix it?

05 explorer clicks but won't start?

Bought a brand new battery and starter. Car still won't turn on. Engine doesn't even try to turn over. All the electrical things inside the car still work, had the battery tested and replaced the starter with a brand new one. Still nothing. Checked the fuses, and checked the cable connections. Turn the key to on and it clicks. Ideas? Calling ford tomorrow, just looking for things to check today.

Why is my ford explorer not starting?

I have a 2002 ford explorer v6 I was sittin in my car with friends for like a half hour to an hour, had headlights on for a few minutes turned them off or onto parking lights for remainder anyways we listened to music and had ac on for whole time pretty much, I would turn the ac on and off though. I turn the key to start and it begins to studder, it does a little beep to tell you it's on and it wasn't able to do a full beep. The odd thing is everything works, lights, fan, radio odometers even did a sweep and landed to everything as I held the key in place. Everything was lit until like the 6th time I tried starting it then radio time dimmed, but everything else still worked.

My Ford Explorer overheats? But I have plenty of coolant in my radiator. What could be wrong?

A little help here please. I have a 2004 Ford Explorer sport and for the last couple of weeks I notice a smell of overheating after driving it for a while. But I do have full coolant in the radiator and It also shows my gauge at normal levels. But tonight after driving my vehicle for about 40 minutes I noticed when I shut off the vehicle steam was coming from the engine the radiator cap was cool and no visible leaks and my gauge still was at normal levels and the gauge is working because I watch it climb never getting past the half way mark, what can this problem be?
