My Ford Explorer overheats? But I have plenty of coolant in my radiator. What could be wrong?
A little help here please. I have a 2004 Ford Explorer sport and for the last couple of weeks I notice a smell of overheating after driving it for a while. But I do have full coolant in the radiator and It also shows my gauge at normal levels. But tonight after driving my vehicle for about 40 minutes I noticed when I shut off the vehicle steam was coming from the engine the radiator cap was cool and no visible leaks and my gauge still was at normal levels and the gauge is working because I watch it climb never getting past the half way mark, what can this problem be?
If the gauge is accurate, it obviously is NOT overheating. You need to find out where on the engine that the steam is coming from and whether or not it is steam or smoke. If it is steam, obviously coolant is leaking onto some warm part of the engine. If it is smoke, there's oil leaking onto some warm part of the engine.
Well your cooling system has multiple parts that can fail and cause overheating. There's the radiator, the thermostat, the water pump, the cooling fan, and fan clutch. First let me ask when is the vehicle overheating while idle or while driving down the road? Second is the heat going up quickly or is it taking a while to over heat?
- My 99 ford Taurus has a milky brown fluid in the coolant tank. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong? The engine oil is fresh, with no milky color. It is an amber brown. the tranny fluid is pink/red my car will start, however it will not leave park. The gear shift will move but the car will not leave park. someone said it could be my head gasket however the car NEVER ran hot nor did it have any white smoke. ill take any suggestions or help offered.
- 2002 ford taurus coolant bubbling out of coolant tank cap? Coolant is bubbling out of the tank cap on my taurus. The coolant is a bit over the fill to line. The coolant is the normal green color. I don't think it having a bit of extra coolant in the tank is doing this. The cap itself maybe? I just bought this car and it didn't do this until today.
- I have a 99 ford ranger that won't start. What could be wrong with it? None of the lights work, lock buttons won't work, absolutely nothing works. I tried jumping it and that didn't work. The truck doesn't make the clicking noise when i try to start it. I know nothing about cars. I just want a general idea of what could be wrong. I don't like going to mechanics without a vague idea of what could be wrong. I've had mechanics do a lot of stuff that didn't need to be done and it costed way to much
- 99 ford ranger clicks once, but won't start what could be wrong? The truck was running fine, but the day before yesterday it wouldn't start. All the lights and stereo come on so its not the battery. When you turn the key it clicks once but doesn't start. All the plugs are new and the belts, and the transmission is new too.
