Why my car won't turn over/catch immediately After turning it off. Also my reservoir keeps overflowing?

I have an1999 Ford explorer. I recently changed my radiator, thermostat, condenser and top. And bottom hoses(radiator). I drove to the gas station which is about a mile. From home. I turned the the car off, got gas and tried to start the car and it wouldn't catch. I waited ten minutes tried again. It came on and i drove back home, meanwhile my reservoir is spilling over… Even though i emptied it before going to the store with a large syringe. My exhaust stinks and its white smoke. My car was not doing this befor the. Repairs. Can anyone let me know what's wrong and how to fix it?

Did you put the thermostat in backwards? Also white smoke is unburnt fuel or water put your hand by your vehicles exhaust and see if it has and water vapor if so then yoy have either a cracked head or a cracked block. The water shooting out of the engine is either from the thermostat clicking open from being backwards of ftom a cylinder push air through your water ports. Let me know what you find
