1990 Ford Ranger Starting problem?

Hey Have recently replaced Battery and Alternator on my 1990 Ford Ranger 2.3L. From looking around I'm thinking the issue might be the starter, but not sure. The only response I'm getting from cranking is the seat belt light, caution lights, and anti-lock break lights coming on, and the battery needle moving. It is silent and not turning over(so i'm guessing its not the solenoid or the ignition coil). I have tried the tapping method on the starter and nothing yet. What do you guys think?

I have a 96 Ford Ranger that I recently bought. Need

After freaking out that the 4 cylinder had 8 plugs and wires, I did a tune up replacing replacing plugs and wires and air filter.
What the issue is, is that when I rev the engine in first is sputters then catches and revs. It did this before the tune up. Any Ideas what could be wrong?
Thanks.

After driving Ford Ranger, high mileage, 10 miles and at normal operating temp, I park overnight on level concrete floor. I check oil level?

Next day before starting and when I pull dipstick out, oil level is at full mark. I wipe the dipstick clean and re-insert and check oil level again, the oil level is down about 1/8th inch or so. I check it once more and get same reading. Is the crankcase full or do I need to add some oil?

Added (1). Just to be clear, since this is an older Ranger with over 170,000 miles, I use high mileage oil and I check the oil level regularly. It doesn't use oil after just 10 miles of driving.

How do I hook up the nuetral safety switch on a 94 Ford Ranger?

I have a 94 4wd Ford Ranger with a 4.0 Engine, And i put a A4LD Automatic Transmission in it, but I can't get the Neutral Safety Switch or Starter Safety Switch and now I can turn the ignition and it won't crank or even turn over and I heard that was the problem. I can tell where the plug in goes and the wire that goes to it are the same plug in but I just can't get it to go in can anyone tell me how it goes in if there's a trick to it or something?

Ford Ranger for first car?

Hello I'm a car guy looking for a first car and I like the Ford Ranger. I like the ranger because it is a truck but it isn't that big. I heard that the Ranger gets pretty good gas mileage for a truck also. I like the idea of having a small truck so I could haul small things if I had to. I inherited my dad's 1966 vw beetle and have been working on that so I would mainly be using the truck to haul parts for the bug. My favorite Rangers are the first gens built from 1983-1988 with the off center Ford emblem but I like all rangers. Any thoughts or suggestions? Anything would help.

1983-1988 Ford Ranger for first car?

Hello I'm looking for a first car and have been thinking about many different cars. I like old cars and I have a 1966 vw beetle project that I'm working on. For my first car I thought a mid 80s Ford ranger would be a good truck to get because it is a small truck that gets good gas mileage and I wouldnt have to work on it all the time. I thought it would be good to have so I could haul stuff and carry vw parts and tow my beetle. Any thoughts?

Why isn't my temperature gauge going up?

I have a 2004 ford ranger 2.3. Its 48 degrees right now in texas and its raining. I cranked my truck and it died 10 seconds later. I cranked it 2 more times and it would die as soon as it turned on. I tried a fourth time and it turned. The truck has been on for 45 minutes and the temperature gauge hasn't moved at all. The heater is working fine though and the truck isn't making any weird noises or smells. What could be the problem?
