Ford Ranger for first car?

Hello I'm a car guy looking for a first car and I like the Ford Ranger. I like the ranger because it is a truck but it isn't that big. I heard that the Ranger gets pretty good gas mileage for a truck also. I like the idea of having a small truck so I could haul small things if I had to. I inherited my dad's 1966 vw beetle and have been working on that so I would mainly be using the truck to haul parts for the bug. My favorite Rangers are the first gens built from 1983-1988 with the off center Ford emblem but I like all rangers. Any thoughts or suggestions? Anything would help.

I do believe in being prepared Samuel. But you are fourteen and have 2 years to pick your first car. I saw a 60's style VW bus today. All original paint and all. Every older person has turn their heads and look at it as it goes by. Just sayin.

  • What car should I get for my first car? I'm 16 and about to buy my first car. I'm thinking about getting a 94 Ford Ranger (120k miles) with lifted suspension, off road tires, and a prerunner bumper. Would this be a reliable car throughout my high school years? Should I get that or should I just get a 2 door coupe?
  • Do you think a Ford Ranger would be good for me? (first vehicle)? I'm 17 and have 3000 saved up to buy a vehicle. I was looking at a 4.0L V6 Ford Ranger. Do you think that engine can support a dirt bike or a quad (not at the same time) in the bed or is that pushing it. Should I go with a F-150? I only want a truck so I can put my dirt bike/quad in the back and got o my friends house and ride.
  • Am looking to buy my first pickup what's better Ford Ranger or F150? I'm looking to buy my first pickup and i'm choosing between a 2000 Ranger or a 2000 F150 both with less then 130,000 miles. So i have test drove the F150 and i really like the truck but i haven't test drove a Ranger just yet so i just want to know which is a better truck. (Which would you choose) I want a single Cab for both I will try to test drive a Ranger soon before i make my choice thank you all
  • 1997 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 won't shift into drive after being driven. Takes longer than should to shift into drive when first started? It will go in reverse fine. First thing in the morning when I leave for work, it will shift into drive on it's own, but takes a bit longer than it should. After getting it warm, won't shift into drive at all. I can shift down to 1st or 2nd, then back into drive and it will "pop up" into drive within a second or 2. I also have a ODB2 error P1744 (Torque Converter circuit).
