1990 Ford Ranger Starting problem?

Hey Have recently replaced Battery and Alternator on my 1990 Ford Ranger 2.3L. From looking around I'm thinking the issue might be the starter, but not sure. The only response I'm getting from cranking is the seat belt light, caution lights, and anti-lock break lights coming on, and the battery needle moving. It is silent and not turning over(so i'm guessing its not the solenoid or the ignition coil). I have tried the tapping method on the starter and nothing yet. What do you guys think?

Try starting in Neutral. Replace the start relay (if there's one). Check for 12v on the B+ terminal and ignition terminal of the starter solenoid when cranking. Check for a good starter ground. If there's no clicking starter sound, it is likely a park/neutral switch problem, ignition switch or a start relay problem.

As stated in the title I bought a 1990 Ford Ranger today and it had recently gotten some parts replaced including: Fly Wheel, Starter, tires and some others. But the problem is, when I'm stop and accelerate the whole truck shakes and jiggles and I'm not exactly sure what it is? Any comments help. It's a Ford Ranger 1990 Automatic 4wd. Also, I'm not sure if this is normal on these old of cars but when on the freeway going about 65 that's red lining it.
  • 96 ford ranger starting problem? I have a 96 Ford Ranger 4.0L 6cyl. Manual. It just started having this problem. It starts up good and runs good. After driving awhile and i go into a store and come back out to start it… It starts up then acts like it wants to die, i press the gass and put it into gear and drive, after that its good until i stop it again. Any ideas?
