Antifreeze leak from right front of car?

2001 Ford Escort ZX2. We went to the store briefly and when we returned about 10 minutes later, I noticed that it had leaked a few ounces of antifreeze. I couldn't tell immediately where it was coming from, as it appears to be dripping from one of the lower "pointed" parts of a black guard that is bolted on. Even with the car off, it was dripping every 3-4 seconds or so. We started back up, finished a few local errands and came back home. With it running, I no longer saw it leaking at all. Not a single drip from the place where it was dripping. When it was turned off, I no longer saw any drip then, either.

Any ideas? I'm planning to let it cool off for a bit and then jack it up and take the guard off to see if maybe it is the hose joining the radiator or water pump.

I did notice one thing… The level of antifreeze in the overflow part in the back was below the "full" mark. I also noticed what looked like a fresh green trickle down the front side of the plastic overflow, as if it had leaked something (but I see nothing wrong with the overflow itself). However, that is in the back near the firewall… So I'm trying to figure out how that would be dripping way up there where the water pump and radiator hose would be.

Bleeding front brakes only?

Hi, I have a 1989 ford escort mk4 and the brakes were OK but not very good. I knew that some air had gotten into the system before, via a leaking servo gasket (This has now been sealed). Yesterday I decided to bleed the brake system of air, and I did the usual of attempting to start on the rears (Drum Brakes), furthest away from the master cylinder at front. However, I found that both drum brakes had seized bleed nipples, so unfortunately I could not get them off. I then went and did the fronts (Disc Brakes) and the nipples where able to be undone. I bled these two (Again, furthest away from cylinder first) and the fluid is now shooting out of the nipple with a good flow, before it was only drizzling out.

Now the problem is I can pump the brake and it will start to somewhat regain a good pressure, then when I stop pumping and wait a few seconds… I then go to push the brake pedal again and it has lost almost all of it. There's only a little pressure.

Do you reckon I should either try and get the rear brake nipples undone? To bleed them, or if not I'll have to purchase a new set of rear drum brakes I guess. Unless it's also possible to remove the brake line to the rears that's holding the fluid… And bleed the lines or something?

Thanks for any reply's.

Added (1). I've tried doing it with the car off and the car running, doesn't seem to make a difference.

Engine Swap, Help Needed?

Hi, I'm soon to swap out the engine in my ford escort MK4. It currently has a worn out 1.3 HCS engine in it, and is run by carburettor. I've found a 1.6 automatic engine from a escort MK6, but it's also fuel injected. I was told that I can remove the existing manifold on the auto engine, and put mine straight onto it so I can run carburettor'd. I was also told that I can remove the converter or whatever, and install my gearbox onto the engine to make it manual. Is this true? As I don't want to go buying the engine if it's not possible, I'd prefer manual & keeping it carburettor'd so I don't have to mess around replacing or cutting into the wiring loom.

A belt popped off my car. Did I do any damage to my engine?

While I was driving my 97 Ford escort the battery light came on, the car didn't hesitate or shut off. The wheel was a little hard to turn. I drove for about 35 minutes on the highway to get home and parked. I looked under the hood and found that a belt was missing I'm not exactly sure which belt it is but there are a few gears without a belt. I looked at some of the questions and answers listed here but I don't have a diagram of how the belt should go since it popped off while I was driving.
