Can I drive with a Rack and Pinion leak?

So I drive a '99 Ford ranger. I took it in to get the brakes looked at. And the mechanic informed me that the rack and pinion is leaking power steering fluid pretty badly. I hadn't noticed anything leaking until he told me. I was wondering how long could I drive it for? They told me it would be anywhere from $800-$1100 to repair. I don't really have that kind of money. Do you think it's worth fixing it? The truck is only worth $2500-$3500 max. What would happen if I kept driving it with the leak? (Not that I would) thanks for any advice!

What's wrong with the truck?

I went for a ride with my grandfather yesterday. He told me to drive on the way back. I've driven this truck a lot so I know how it feels and drives. The first thing I noticed was that the steering was loose and shaky feeling (wheel moves with bumps). It's usually tight and very responsive. I also noticed the brake pedal felt kind of squishy instead of firm. What's wrong with this truck?

Added (1). It's a 2000 Ford Ranger 4WD.

Does a carseat fit in this truck?

We're considering buying a 2000 ford ranger xlt. Its the 4 door version. We haven't met up yet I just don't want to waste my time if our daughters carseat can't fit. She's in a front facing carsear now and I was hoping someone would know if this truck will work for us.

How to make a V4 engine faster?

I have a 1991 ford ranger. The engine was rebuilt so it only has about 65,000 miles. I love the truck but when i floor it it seems like i'm driving like a grandma. The only "performance" thing on it is a cold air intake. What can i do to add HP and increase response time? I've cleaned out the throttle body intake and the mass air flow sensor and it helped a little bit it doesn't idle as hard now but i want speed! The fact the speedometer maxes out at 85 doesn't really help tho. Any suggestions?

Aren't you amazed by the capabilities and the size of today's full-size pickup trucks?

I drive a 2011 Ford Ranger XLT 4x2 with a 4.0 liter V6 (~245 ci.) engine. I was looking up the specs for early-mid 1960s F100s (considered full-size), and they have nearly the same GVWR, towing capacity, payload, horsepower, wheelbase, and height as my "compact" truck. In your opinion, do you think today's full-size trucks are amazing or too fancy/over-sized (a traditionalist like me)?

P.S.: I like all American vehicles

2005 ford Rangers obd 2 port not working where is the cigar lighter fuse not the 12v aux outlet fuse?

2005 ford Rangers obd 2 port not working where is the cigar lighter fuse not the 12v aux outlet fuse?

Added (1). So I got a 2005 ford ranger if it idles long enough it bogs down but only once when I speed up however it's idling poorly by vibrating the truck can't be the mass airflow sensor because I cleaned the filter about a month ago think it might need a tune-up only a little over 80,000 miles anyways autozone can't be sure because of a blown fuse somewhere however none of my fuses look blown Check engine light doesn't come on usually it flashes first during idle but after a while it will stay on

Added (2). though but after a while of idling it will turn on And where is the smokers package cigar lighter fuse located in the case that it is blown because I found the 12v aux output fuse but I guess they don't work together because one works one don't

Added (3). By the way the check engine light does not come on during starting and accelerating only at idle flashes then comes off if not idled long enough unless I'm stopped for a Long time it will stay on
