98 Ford Ranger Timing Belt?

So I everytime I align up the timing marks and get TDC. I seem to not find the compression stroke. I put a extension socket in the #1 cylinder and try to find the Compression Stroke. The say if you feel pressure push back then that's the compression. I also hear air pushing so I'm guessing thats the compression stroke. Once I get that then I find TDC and align the timing marks and put everything back together I start the truck and it studders, and sounds bad. So I'm assuming that I'm still off time but how? I've been on this truck for over alittle two weeks. I need it running soon.

Metallic ticking noise Ford Ranger?

I have a 90s ford ranger that is making a pretty loud, metallic ticking noise.

When I first start the vehicle and shift to either drive or reverse while idling, I can hear the ticking, I don't hear it when in park.

As I lightly step on the accelerator, the ticking increases in frequency until I reach speeds of around 30-40 mph where I can no longer hear the ticking noise. After driving for a few minutes at these speeds and idling again, the ticking noise does not occur. I will only hear the ticking again when I restart the vehicle a little while later.

Anyone have any idea of what this might be?

Added (1). Truck is making a Grinding noise when clutch is engaged, I attach a youtube video of a different car making the same sound. Is my only option to replace the clutch then? If anybody could link a repair manual to a 2008 ford ranger that would be awesome. I tried google and torrent sites but had no luck

How will fender bender effect insurance for Teen?

So I live in a crowded neighborhood where almost everyone parks on a narrow street. Anyway I came home and this prius was in my normal spot and there was no other parking. So I decided to try and squeeze my car in between the prius and another. Long story short, I backed into the prius. Not hard, I heard a little *ting. I checked and there appears to be a small indent above their license plate. It's 4am so I haven't done anything about it yet. I'm 17 and female, I've been driving a year with no accidents or traffic violations. I only have liability insurance. I was wondering if we filled a claim. How would it affect my insurance? Specifically the rates?

PS. I drive a 1999 Ford ranger and have good student on insurance. ( in case that matters).

Is it weird that I think trucks are easier to drive than cars?

I'm 17 and I've driven vehicles of different shapes and sizes. I recently noticed something a little strange. I got to drive a 2012 Ford F150 (after driving an Impala) and I noticed I had an easier time driving it. I usually drive a Ford Ranger and I think that's really easy to drive. If I drive a sedan, I have a hard time driving it. I actually learned to drive in a pickup truck. Is this weird that I have an easier time driving SUVs and pickups instead of a car?
