4x4 light solid on 1999 5.4 Ford Expedition?

My mother in law started my truck to leave work today, and called saying the 4x4 light was on, as well as the LOW light and felt like it was "caught between gears or something." I told her to turn it off, and back on and see what it does. She did, and the lights went off and it drove normally without any issues. I drove around the block to make sure it wasn't in 4x4, and it wasn't. No lights indicating 4x4 were on, shifted and drove normally. The awd also worked correctly, like it always has. What would cause this one time occurance? Is there possibly a sensor going bad? I would blame it on the faulty clusters in these models, but she physically felt the truck being sluggish and running strangely.

Are Ford Expedition El's Front wheel drive?

I'm looking at Ford Expeditions especially the EL models but Autotrader says they are RWD but I would prefer FWD because I have bad winters so if they are actually RWD I will probably just buy the regular Expedition. So if anyone knows what drive type it is please tell me.

How to remove broken and rusted running board brackets from a ford expedition?

Took off on a dirt road in my expedition and slid into a tree. I knocked off my drivers side mirror and the drivers side running board. The brackets for the running board are rusted and now twisted with the frame. I have tried relentlessly to remove them but can't. If anybody has any ideas on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated. Also need to be able to put on new brackets after removal.

Is buying a 2004 Ford Expedition with 250,000 miles on it a bad idea?

There's a really nice Eddie Bauer Expedition for sale in the area, it has everything when it comes to features, along with four-wheel drive and the whole works. The man bought a new expedition and is selling his, it's really clean. I've driven it before and it runs and shifts great, my concern is that it won't be shifting great for much longer (Transmission). It has the original transmission, but it's been taken care of for a 2004.
1. Lets say the transmission were to go out, does anyone know exactly what that would cost to replace from experience in dealing with this before.
2. Are there any other problems that might happen with 250,000 miles and only basic repairs over those years (Like I said, from experience, no guesses).
Thanks

Will a fuel filter improve gas mileage?

I have a 2001 ford expedition. It usually get Ok gas mileage. But lately even since I've gotten my oil changed Gas mileage has been attrotious. Like it uses a quarter tank of gas and I've only been like 20 miles. And it was mostly highway. Sears did say I needed a fuel filter but I heard that doesn't really help gas mileage. It has just over 96K on it. I've never changed spark plugs, fuel pump, air filter in forever if I ever replaced it in like 14 year I've owned it. I can't remember. Auto zone told me to check 02 censor but the check engine light isn't n on.I'm lost really. I just want it to get the mileage it used to get.
