What cars are good for snow?

I'm 16 and I'm looking to get a car. I want an SUV. I need it to be able to drive through the snow. Here's some of the vehicles I want.

-Ford Explorer
-Ford Expedition
-Lincoln Navigator
-Ford Explorer Sport Trac
-Mercury Mountaineer
-Chevy Tahoe
-Chrysler Aspen
-Chevy Suburban
-Land Rover Discovery
-Toyota Land Cruiser

Which one should I get and why?

Hi so right at the end of your list is the worst 4x4 by far the land rover known to be totally unreliable and below it the most reliable 4x4 the toyota land cruiser. So most of the Fords are not fords but Mazda trucks just got a ford badge so they are pretty good too.

A car wouldn't be your ideal snow vehicle. It depends where you live. I live in northeast ohio and we get 2 feet of snow at a time My mom has a bmw. It sucks in the snow. We have 2 ford f150 I suggest that. But what ever you do Don't get a rear wheel drive car. It's horrible. Look in to either a truck or any awd vehicle

You didn't list a Subaru. The AWD Subaru Forester is one of the favorite vehicles of people who live in snow country.

Land cruiser or lexus lx470. Same vehicles, the lx470 is basically a MUCH more reliable range rover. They can handle anything you throw to it, can't kill one. It will last you another 16+ years easily. Toyotas and lexuses can be expensive to fix due to extremely rare visits to the mechanic. Why do you think they drive them in jungles, 120+ degree deserts, mountains etc?

I have an Expedition and my son has an Explorer. Both are 4wd and go great in the snow. A 4wd SUV is great, but the gas mileage is going to kill you.

  • Do they make low profile SNOW tires? I live in Northern NY but my dream car is a Ford Mustang Cobra R. I want to get just a normal mustang and make it a Cobra R replica, but it'll be my daily driver. So do they make snow tires in low profile? And don't tell me to get a different vehicle just because of where I live. I'm set on this car and am just looking for an answer to the question asked. Don't act like my mother.
  • Are Ford Mustangs bad in the snow? I live in Pennsylvania where the winters have been bad recently with snow, ice, etc. How are these cars in the snow? I currently have a Camry and was thinking of getting a recent model Mustang convertible.
  • 2013 Ford Fusion vs Subaru Outback: Which is better on snow and more reliable? 2013 Ford Fusion Titanium AWD vs 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited AWD Which is better for a 19 year old and can handle the intense Michigan winters? Both are fully loaded and have a little over 100k miles on them. Here are my top priorities, in order: 1. Reliability 2. Good on snow and ice (especially ice) 3. Low cost of ownership 4. Easy to drive for a new, young driver .Anyone wanna help me out?
  • Snow tires on the same rims? I have a '14 Ford Focus riding currently on the factory wheels and rims size 215/55/R16. Can I use snow on those rims?
