Which used car should I pick?

I'm a single mom of two kids. I need a car as soon as possible. I can only afford $2,800. I'm considering two cars from dealerships:

- 2002 Buick Century Custom, $2500, 165k
- 1999 Ford Taurus, $2200, 202k

I know I would have more options if I save more, but I need a car now.

Added (1). Condition is good on both cars. The only Toyota in my price range has 300k on it. I can't find an affordable Honda with four doors.

Added (2). Another option is a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo for $2500. It has 160k on it. It's also in good condition, but I heard that Aveo's aren't that great.

Car Running Hot and Leaking Coolant?

I drove my car about 5 miles this morning then about four miles back towards my house and i decided to stop to get food. As i waited in the drive thru i noticed my temp hand go slightly up, just a bit over half way. I drove to the gas station which is maybe a half a mile away and by time i go there it was smoking and at the orange line. I got out the car and i noticed coolant pouring out at the bottom. I replaced a radiator hose about two months ago but i'm not sure exactly what hose it was. I can only say it was located underneath and on the passenger side of the car. Any ideas on what this may be. I can't get it looked at til monday and just wanted some ideas and price ranges. Its a ford taurus by the way.

98 Ford Taurus stereo installation?

I bought the mounting kit and hooked everything Up and it works. I still have the roll of speaker wires connected to a plug, what do I do with this? Also there's no plug to fit this and no extra plug to hook up to a stereo.

Why does my car make a humming noise then shut off when it's too cold?

Every time I go out, as soon as I start driving it makes this humming noise and my engine will start to act up and shut off. It's annoying because this usually happens, most often in cold weather. I let my car warm up for at least 7 minutes but it has no effect. I've tried putting power steering fluid and also used gas treatment but that doesn't seem to do anything either. I've put more anti-freeze in and still doesn't work. Does it need an oil change or something? Please help me out.

I have a 2004 Ford Taurus by the way.

2006 ford taurus. Loss of power and decreased mpg?

I had a tune up done on my taurus and was satisfied for the first day. The second day I started my car and befor I even got out of the driveway the exhaust cam completely disconnected at the flexpipe near the engine. I took it back to the mechanic and was told I needed a new cat converter. The new converter was inatalled and mpg was up to 30, just like new. The next day I had no power and maxed out at 40 mph. Back to the mechanic and I was told that the "upper converters" were falling apart. I was told that they had taken the new converter off and dumped pieces of the upper converters out and replaced the converter. The mpg is now down around 25. I'm wondering if the low mpg would be due to residue from the upper converters remaining in the new converter. My mechanic is telling me that the digital read out in the dash of my car should not be relied on as they are notoriously inaccurate. Any ideas on why my mpg would have dropped to 25?

Why does my 2003 Ford Taurus SE shake when idling?

So, my 2003 Ford Taurus SE has 170k on it. It started to run rough about a month ago. Took it to a shop where they told me it was running on 5 cylinders and misfiring. All injectors were replaced as well as spark plugs and coils. 15k miles ago my MAF sensor was replaced as well. What the shop did fixed my Ford for about a week. $550 later. And now it's doing something very strange. It drives just fine. When i'm going through my gears. But, for example, when I'm at a stop light my car is in gear but completely stopped. Its like it jerks itself around and shakes. I don't know if this is a misfire or what. But if I put it in neutral when I'm stopped it doesn't do it. Only when in gear. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate your help.
