Car dies after I replaced a burned out fuse?
My car AC hasn't been working lately, so I checked the pressure to see if it was leaking refrigerant - the pressure was fine, so I checked the fuse. The AC fuse was burned out, so I replaced it, being careful to select the right amperage and making sure it was the right fuse. However, after I replaced it, my car starts, then dies after about 5 seconds. Did I do something horribly wrong? Is this something that I can reverse easily rather than taking it to a mechanic?
It's a 2000 Ford Focus and I had my battery replaced about 3 months ago and my AC compressor replaced a little over a year ago. I had no check engine light or anything, and it was running fine before I plucked out the little fuse with some pliers. The AutoZone guy that sold me the fuses could tell I was nervous, so he actually came out with me to help me plug it in in the parking lot to make sure it was the right fuse, right place, etc. I'm so baffled that I couldn't even plug in a fuse without breaking my car lol. Thanks for any suggestions!
Added (1). Just went out and tried it - when I remove the fuse, the same thing happens and it stalls. However, when I turn the AC off completely with the new fuse in, it seems to run okay (I'll be honest - I only let it run for about a minute because I was scared a mushroom cloud might pop out of my hood.)
