I have a 2006 Ford focus zx4. It over heats?
The cooling fan makes a grinding noise when it attempts to come on. Do I need a mechanic or can I fix this issue at home. I'm just a regular person who doesn't mind diy to conserve on the dollars. I do know a little about using tools tho.
With the ignition off and the battery ground disconnected, try turning the fan blade by hand. Something may be caught in it. If you see nothing in it is it rough feeling when you turn it? If it is rough then you will need a new one. You can get one from a junkyard way cheaper than a new one!
Be aware that the fan can start running whether or not the ignition is on or off. Also the junkyard will hook up the fan you get to make sure it works, at least the one I go to does!
Open the hood with the engine off and try and spin the fan blades. Sometimes that guard makes that tough, but you can use a screwdriver to get to the fins. No need to disconnect the battery if you don't even have the key in the ignition. The noise could be the motor bearings and that would call for replacing the fan assembly. Easy enough and Mav's recommendation for saving money at a salvage yard, is a good one… But they don't guarantee electrical parts so you HOPE that the used one you buy actually works.
- My car over heats in stop signs? My car over heats at a stop however it will go down with driving. It will also go down if I turn on my ac, which means that the fans are turning on just not on their ow. What else could it be My car is a 2002 Ford Focus zx5 and its automatic
- Should I get a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT or 2006 Chevy Silverado Z71? Which truck would be better… I need a tough truck to haul around kids (both are 4-door), a little off-road driving around the farm and fishing, pulling a 4k to 5k trailer. Which engine is better, Fords 5.4L or Chevys 5.3L? Is one transmission better than the other? Which will give me the least or most problems? All pros and cons appreciated, thank you!
- I have a 2006 ford explorer xlt. It heats up when I turn the Air conditioner on? I have replaced the radiator, thermostat, fan clutch, fuel sensor and had the gasket seals changed, and it still heats up. Any idea?
- Blowing cold air when heater is on, needle is over heating, antifreeze looks to be sprayed all over engine? 1996 Ford Crown Victoria LX 4.6 Just changed the thermostat today so that wasn't the problem. Although when changing the thermostat, there was a crap ton of antifreeze in the thermostat housing. Both hoses going in and out of heater core were warm/hot.
