I got a super good deal on tires that I just couldn't pass up. Nearly new all-terrain tires, with the nubs still not worn off. Set on perfect condition aluminum alloy rims. Whole set for $300! I snatched it.
Only problem, the bolt pattern on the rims is too big. My Ford Explorer is 5 lug 4.5", and the new rims are 5 lug 5.5". So the original plan was just rip off the aluminum rims, sell them for $300 to get my money's worth back, and buy another used set that fit right. But now I'm realizing how much of a headache that is. Craigslist rims are either junk or like $800. What if I got adapters?
I think the good quality billet wheel adapters are gonna be about another $200. I've never used wheel adapters before, so I'm a bit indecisive. Would that be worth it? Any reason to stay away from adapters?
If you know your stuff when it comes to cars and tires, please share your opinion. Thanks!
Added (1). PS in case you were wondering, no the tires weren't stolen. I was set up with a friend who runs an auto-part junk yard.
