My engine is making a loud knocking noise

I have a 2005 ford escape hybrid. I noticed day before yesterday that there was a slight ticking noise in my engine so i stopped at a gas station to check the oil. I was surpised thatI had to put in 4 quarts of oil. I do have to say that i was just under 2K of being over due for an oil change. I didn't think this would be a huge deal bc i change the oil every 3K and i've been told that with hybrids you don't need to change it till 5K. At first i only heard the ticking noise when i hit the gas pedel. You couldnt hear it at all when it was idling. Mostly when i was taking off or if i was going up hill and the RPM's were high. The noise would get louder and faster when the RPM's are high. This morning i was easing up a hill and it starting making an even louder knocking noise… Almost like something it loose or ratteling inside and its constant, even when idling. I'm really stuck between a rock and a hard place right now and do not have the money to get a new car or fix a huge problem. Please, someone give me some good news and tell me its a minor fix… Please.

What's causing my car to shake?

I have a 2008 ford escape. When I initially begin driving, it drives fine. But if I ride thru town or slower on the highway because of traffic, it begins to shake, then when I park, I smell buring rubber. What's causing this? I know I need brakes bit I've never known worn brakes make a car act like this.

Is it fine to add in Stop Leak before an oil change for a 2004 Ford Escape?

My father had the Ford Escape and wrecked it, destroying the bumper and pushing part of the hood back. The used-car body shop was able to fix it and put it back on the market. However, I discovered that there were leaks. I haven't really worked on cars before but I'm trying to learn now and I have the things I need for an oil change. When I talked to the clerk about doing the oil change, I also mentioned the leaks, and she advised that I try to stop the leaks first. A friend came along with me and helped me pick out a "Stop Leak", which I know would only be a temporary fix. I had thought about putting it in before I do the oil change this weekend. Is that fine, or should I do it right after the oil change? I know I need to take it to a shop and I plan to, but I need to save up for that. Also, what's a good store to get new carpet? I don't mean the floor mats, either, I mean the actual carpets that goes to the bottom and top of the vehicle. I want to change it to black carpet. I'm working on making it look better for Uber (since I will be driving for them soon.)

Car missfiring? Only 4 out of 6 cylinders are working?

I got a 2002 Ford Escape v6 and it had a low idle and would die also I was getting 14 mpg. So I looked up some stuff to fix it so I changed my spark plugs and cleaned my mass air flow sensor( with appropriate cleaner) after all of that I started the car and idle was rough so bad the car would shake it was even hard to start up so I swapped and put my old plugs back in and it still is running like this we figured it was the injectors used a set of tools and heard them firing. The coil packs still fire does anyone have any ideas what's going?

Why does my vehicle sometimes struggle to start?

I bought a used 2001 Ford Escape in August 2007 -- it presently has just under 75,000 miles. Until a couple weeks ago, every time I tried to start it, it would fire right up as one would expect. About 2 weeks ago, I came out after work and tried to start it -- you could hear the engine trying to start (weakly) but something wasn't right. I waited a few seconds and tried again… Same results. After about the 5th or 6th try, finally the engine weakly began working and then it became strong to how it normally sounds. I turned the vehicle off and tried to start it -- worked as expected. I've driven it since then with no issues… Until last night. Again, the same scenario where you can hear the engine trying to start, but not firing. After a few tries it starts it finally starts weakly and then sounds normal -- I can't get the symptom to reproduce on demand.

I live in Minnesota (it gets cold here!) so I replaced my battery this summer -- I don't think this is a battery issue as the starter sounds like it is trying to start when I turn the key.

Unfortunately, I'm a computer/electronics guy -- I don't know much about vehicles. Your insight would be greatly appreciated.

Is it hard to be approved with ford credit?

Anyone know how Ford Credit is? I've just applied for a finance on a 2017 ford escape, price is $38K and I'm putting $0 down.
