Fuel pump or relay? Or is it a misdirection of symptoms being bad connections battery terminals/ground?
95 Ford contour 4 cylinder. Wasn't running when I bought it. The seller assumed starter solenoid. That it died at a stop sign and wouldn't start Back up. I bought knowing that didn't sound right.a starter wouldn't cause a car to die. I suspected battery terminals or something. My assumptions were right. Corroded battery terminals. Messed with it a bit to get good enough connection to start it. It was hard. Got the car home and the terminals were only fixed temporarily for the short drive. Put terminals together hopefully avoiding hole new cables. Started the car. Great! Took two-hours with the terminals. Let the car run for a min to charge. 20 min came back and car wouldn't start. Ignition cranks but won't kick over (Take note: key was off saw SPEEDOMETER GAGE MOVE) so I'm thinking def that Dam connection again. After turning key back and forth 5 times thinking resset computer system and gas pedal to the floor cranking key for a long 15 seconds it started.Well I drive it around the block and I notice it seems to be losing power to the gas. Not quite stalling but I had to push on the gas to the floor a couple times. Get the car back home. And of coarse won't start again. And I don't want to drag the ignition like that again til I have a solution. So now I'm thinking fuel pump/relay (fuel filter is ruled out sellers recently changed It I see box in trunk) but I'm wondering over the dash Gage moving power off that it could be giving me false leads to the underlying problem?
