Ford Focus ST has higher top speed than Mustang GT? - 1

I'm a huge car enthusiast. I'm also a big time Ford guy. However, I was reading through the MSN Autos article about the top 10 cheapest cars to hit 150 mph. The first car on the list was the very impressive Ford Focus ST with the 2.0 Ecoboost cranking 252 horsepower. For the Focus nameplate, it can achieve mind-boggling speeds of 155 mph. I thought that was very remarkable. However, I came upon the Mustang GT 5.0 V8 later down the list. It said that Ford limited the car to 147 mph this year. The darned thing has 420 horsepower and a Mustang GT nameplate, and you're going to limit it to 8 mph slower than a Focus?! Come on Ford, smarten up.

I know a little about governors or speed limiters. I know that they limit the top speed mainly for the tires or other key engine parts that can't take high speeds. However, can anyone explain to me why Ford would limit their top muscle car (under the GT500 of course) to a top speed of 147 mph while the Focus ST is limited to 155 mph? It seems utterly stupid to do that, even though it is a minor thing.

2014 Ford Focus engine sputters/jerks when starting from a stopped position?

We just purchased a new 2014 Ford Focus and I notice that when I'm completely stopped (at a red light, for example), when the light turns green and I give it gas, the car stutters/shakes a little until it shifts into second gear. I don't know how to explain this really. The car isn't sputtering like it's trying to cut off--it s more like when you try to give it gas too fast and the pavement is wet, you know how sometimes the tires spin and then they catch, so the car jerks a little? It's like that. Is this common/normal? The car had only 3 miles on it, and now it has about 100 miles. I'm wondering if this is just growing pains and it ll work itself out after it gets a few miles on it? Any advice/help is appreciated. The car runs great otherwise--shifts smoothly into all other gears. This happens only when the car is completely stopped, and then I give it gas.

Ford focus 2009 ac not working?

On my cars last service they garage reported my ac isn't working, they checked the gas and said mechanically everything is ok.
I've tried to do a bit of fault finding, i've tested all the relays and fuses all ok. I've tried putting a paper clip in the pressure sensor to force the ac clutch on not worked. Does this mean i've got a faulty ac clutch/compressor or is there something else stopping it working.

Gain more performance from a Ford Focus? - 1

I just bought a 2000 Ford Focus SE, and I was wondering what all modifications I could do to gain a little bit more performance?

It's running the 2.0 16v DOHC engine, which I know is normally a decently powerful engine, but it seems to have less power then my old 94 Nissan Sentra that had a 1.6 DOCH in it.

I was told by a friend who is a Ford Tech at a garage that the computers in Focus's are designed for less power because it gives better fuel economy. But I would rather have a bit more power and sacrifice some fuel mileage. So far, I've only given it a tune-up, New plugs (Bosch Plat 4's Supposedly the guy at the autostore said they will give a little bit more combustion which will raise performance ever so slightly. If anyone knows better plugs lemme know.) New wires, (Don't remember the name, but they were 8.5mm.), new fuel filter, and new oil and oil filter.

I haven't messed with the intake yet, because I know sometimes getting a better intake would increase performance. But I'm not sure what to look for, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I was told about getting a "Cat-Back" exhaust and a header for it. I did some looking around and saw some catback systems for like $600… Which is a little bit more then I was expecting, but I might go that route if I get some performance out of it.

Other then that, I don't really know what else I could do. I was reading about chips that change the computer in it and boost performance but I couldn't find anything for under a grand which I was hoping I wouldn't have to pay that much. Lol.

In short if you don't want to read anything,

Suggestions on Air Intake/Filter,
Exhaust?
Is there better plugs then Bosch Plat 4s?
Any other minor things I can do for performance boost?
Possibly a "computer chip" thing?

If anyone has any suggestions, or links to sites that offer the parts you are suggesting, it would be greatly appreciated.

Can I fill completely flat tires? - 1

I have a 2003 Ford Focus with all season tires. There's some corrosion around the rims, and in cold weather my tires get soft. I generally just keep filling them up in the cold weather and avoid driving as much as possible, because I can't afford new tires.

Anyway, we had an extreme cold front come through, -47 degrees celsius, and overnight my 2 front tires went completely flat. The rims are sitting directly on the rubber.

I have a spare, but I only have 1, and I have 2 flats. I have an emergency air compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter, and I tried using that to get enough air to be able to drive to the gas station to fill it up, but it's not working. Is it possible it's still too cold? It's -17 today, and I know rubber compresses in the cold air.

I've never had the compressor not work before, but I've also never had tires this flat before. The guage doesn't move from zero… Is it possible to fill a completely flat tire or will I have to get them replaced? I guess what I'm asking, is it possible that the tire is too flat to fill?

Also, will a car sitting, not moving, on flat tires, cause more damage? I'm worried about leaving it, but I don't have the money to tow it and replace the tires right now either.
