Why did my ford focus 2012 oil change message come on? - 1

The oil was just changed at the dealership service 2000 miles ago a couple months ago.

I don't drive, but I understand that oil should be changed every 3 months or 3000 miles. It's possible that heavy, or light, driving may affect the length of this cycle.

Ask the dealership.Ignore the other advice about oil change periods. In the UK we change our oil at 12,000 miles or annually whichever comes first.

Whoever changed the oil likely didn't reset the sensor…

Sounds like the OLM was not reset.

Oil service light possibly not reset. However not uncommon for some vehicle sot have this come on despite not needing one e.g. Kuga
check out who to reset online. Chug for example if memory serves is you hold down two pedals with ignition on for 60 seconds and message panel says oil service reset! Can't recall what pedals but sure brake is one of them. U tube etc probably has correct version.

Unless you do an extreme amount of idling (like all day) or had the car in for service that involved reprogramming the instrument cluster, probably wasn't reset as it comes on due to driving habits only or one year 10k miles usually… Av is right on reset procedure however
