Ford Focus 1.8 tdci sport. Clunks when i come off or on the throttle?

Hi, i have just bought a ford focus 1.8tdci 2010plate, the car has been back to Arnold Clarke 3 times in 4 weeks for fault. First a fuel leak and brakes knocking, 2nd time the drive belt pulley and idler were squeaking and needed replacing. Last time was for a clunking noise when i come off or on the accelerator pedal. I thought it was the drive shafts or gearbox. They told me they had sorted it but when myself and the manager took it for a drive the clunking was still there. The manager said it was coming from the gearbox. He then told me that this was normal for the 1.8 diesel engine to do this. This noise is not quiet and i have never heard it before on any other car i have ever been in. Everyone who has been in my car has commented on the noise as being unusual. The manager said that if he replaced the gearbox the noise would still happen. I'm not convinced. Does any body have any suggestions or has anybody experienced this before.

My electric car windows don't work?

On my way to Edinburgh, I put the two front electric windows on my Ford Focus (2000 hatchback) down, now I can't get them up and one is far down enough to get my hand through, so it's needs to be sorted quickly, but I'm several hours from home, loads of garages don't deal with electrics and some are closed on a weekend. One garage told me to adjust the tube for the wires for the window on the driver's door whilst trying to close the windows, which I tried twice, doing it more the second time. The guy also said as the other electrics work, it may be a fuse. Does anyone know how to sort this out or someone in Edinburgh that could help preferably today, but it could get done tomorrow before I go home, then I would need someone in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

HPI check waste of money?

I've been reading up about these HPI checks and how they can identify whether a vehicle has a hidden past etc. From what the adverts suggest, the HPI check seems fool proof but is it really? After doing a bit of researching, a lot of opinions suggest that a HPI check in no way guarantee's a car is legit. For example, a criminal writes off their blue Ford Focus but doesn't inform the insurance for instance. They then go and steal another Ford Focus in the same colour as the one written off, put the plates from the knackered car onto the stolen one, cut the VIN stamp out and weld into the stolen car and there's now a stolen car which is running on false plates and tags. V5 documents and what not can be forged, so for unsuspecting people, a HPI check surely wouldn't provide any indication that the car you're looking at is in fact false? The reason I ask is that my father has been looking at what I think looks like a dodgy motor, the VIN plate on the floor has apparently "rotten through and had to be welded" so there's now no stamp on the chassis and it's easy enough to change the tag that's on the dashboard surely if it is a stolen car right? The car is pretty cheap hence why he's looking at it but I'd rather him not having the police seizing the car and him losing the money for it. Is there anything else I can check over to ensure the car is legit, any VIN tags in the engine bay I can check for?

Manual transmission issues? Shifting cables? I don't know?

Okay so my parents forced this car on to me about a year and a half ago, only two months of that working. When I had first got it I noticed it was slipping out of 5th or 3rd gears. One night I was speeding home and got off an interstate and my car shut off and my pedals were locked. I couldn't shift into any gears, had to engage clutch in order to even push it into a parking lot. I took it to a mechanic to figure out what the issue was, and they replaced the slave cylinder and clutch system. $1,300 later found out it was an issue with the transmission. I didn't have the money to fix it for awhile and about a year later - now I finally had the money to get a used transmission with 64k on it. I had it installed yesterday and it was fine but I noticed the shifter (i don't know what else to call it) seemed loose. Today I took it to get an oil change and they couldn't get the car to go into reverse, I tried, my friend tried - it just won't go into gear. I can't get into 5th either. I can't get into 3rd unless I'm pushing it into where 5th would be and 4th only goes into gear where reverse is. I'm so confused! It's a 2005 ford focus zx4 ST. 2.3/5spd.

Please help me, I've already spent like $2,300 on it and I haven't even drove it for more than two months. )

Can a car have multiple insurance policies?

Well I'm 16 turning 17 in November and recently I've been pricing up car insurance, cars etc. Obviously car insurance is unbelievably expensive because every 17 year old is a boy racer, so the cheapest I got it to was about £2000. My mum and dad already have a 2007 Ford Focus and they said they would add me as a named driver on their car, turns out their insurance company (esure) doesn't insure young drivers. Could I get my own insurance policy on their car with a different insurance company? Also if anyone has any ideas/tips on how to get the cheapest insurance for people my age let me know.

Clicking behind engine 2001 ford focus?

My focus has 111,000 miles on it. A week ago it started making a ticking noise. It sounds like it is coming from behind the engine. It doesn't sound like the valves but it is not all the time. Sometimes its louder and faster and sometimes its not at all. The other day it started a new thing. The temperature goes up and when the fan comes on the car shakes horribly. It feels like it is going to stall but does not. Any ideas what's wrong with it?

Should I buy a Ford Focus Zx3 or should I look for a different car?

I'm a male going to college as a sophmore next semester (this car will be my first car). Should I buy a stick or an automatic (I don't know how to drive a stick at the moment, but I'm willing to learn)? What do you think would be more fun? Do you think a ford focus Zx3 is a good car for me or do you have any other car suggestions?

16 MPG, is it good or bad?
