Why is my car making a loud noise & vibrating? - 1
Added (1). When I turn the car on, it makes a loud noise. I hear the noise all throughout when I'm driving. When I'm at slow speeds, I don't' really hear the noise. Also, the car vibrates also. I feel it especially in the gas pedal. Not sure what's wrong/. Ford told me it was a motor mount and a mechanic said the exhaust needed to be changed. I did both and I still hear the noise and feel the vibration. What could be wrong? I'm running out of possibilities
Could easily be a motor mount… Don't believe the exhaust story until you get it confirmed by at least 2 other mechanics. I would believe what Ford said first. Motor mounts should be $200-300 to replace at a dealer. Exhaust piping and other exhaust work could run you $1,000 and has the potential to cause more problems if it's not done properly, so no surprise the mechanic mentioned that.
Motor mounts cause lots of vibrations throughout the cabin and it can feel like there's an earthquake outside. There are a lot of very good YouTube videos on how to test this that include just having a buddy stand in front of your car while you rev the engine and seeing if/how the engine itself moves. If there's excessive movement it's probably a mount. Common symptoms of motor mounts would also include a drifting to one direction while driving… For example, your car tends to steer off to one direction instead of straight. But this doesn't always happen. Also if you look under the hood at the motor mounts, you *may* see clear fluid on the outside of the mount. This means it's ruptured and should be replaced.
If it was a problem with your exhaust, and the problem is so bad that your car is shaking and causing the excessive noise, I would imagine the O2 sensor would pick up an issue for catalyst efficiency and set a check engine light. This would be the case if there was an issue with exhaust back pressure, clogged catalytic converter, failing catalytic converter or an exhaust leak. You may also get a lean code (Bank 1 Lean, for example).
Bottom line: If you don't have a check engine light, it's probably a motor mount. If you do, have it scanned and go from there.
I changed the top tranny mount and put in a new flex pipe. Car is still making noises and vibrating. I did have the check engine light come on and it was a catalytic conv. Code.
You may also need a front end alignment. If it's alignment the cr will generally want to steer left or right and not straight down the road.
Take it back to the tire store immediately. If they didn't inspect the front end when they changed your tires you should be mad as hell.

- Why is my 1997 Ford Thunderbird making a loud knocking noise as I? I bought a 97 ford Thunderbird not to long ago and it is starting to make a thumping like kknock. Sound like it is coming from under the car but only happens when I'm driving. I got an oil change n still hear the knocking why?
- My car is making noise when I turn the wheel, what could be causing it? I put power steering fluid in and double checked it to make sure it was full, which it is. But whenever I turn the wheel it still makes a terrible noise, i almost want to not drive it anymore just because of that noise. Anyone have an idea what it could be? Is it the power steering pump maybe? If it helps, my car is a 2001 Ford Mustang, FWD. The noise is coming from the front of the car.
- Drove over hill too fast and car is making a thumping noise? I have a 2003 ford focus. Today I was driving and went to make a turn fast and went up a hill and it hit my car and made a loud noise. When pulled up my car started making a thumping noise I thought that it was the tire but when I popped the good and accelerated while in drive the engine was moving up it's still running fine but moving and making a thump when accelerating. What could be wrong with it please help.
