Problems with '97 Ford Taurus starting but shutting off when put in reverse? - 1
Added (1). Hey guys! So basically I'm having a bit of an annoying issue with my 97 Ford Taurus.
Every few days when I start the car and put it in reverse the car just completely shuts off. I estimate that this happens at LEAST once a week if not more often than that. However, this isn't every time I start the car, but it's hit and miss.
I don't know much about cars but I know that I have a new alternator, air filter, and battery.
Mechanics just tell me it could be anything and that it's a vague problem.

What do you think of a girl who drives a 1999 Ford Taurus? - 1
I've got an 02 Ford Taurus with some scratches on the hood. I know it's a relatively old sedan so stripes would look weird, but I want to cover up the scrapes and whatnot. If anyone could link me to some sort of decal that they thing would look cool, and not make me look like a complete tool, that'd be awesome.
I have a 1995 Ford Taurus with 193,000 miles and a transmission that has never given me any problems. I keep hearing that it's about 50,000 miles overdue to go. Will I get any clues before the car leaves me stranded somewhere?
The reason I ask is because my grandma (who has a pretty old car, a 1999 Ford Taurus) says that most cars on the road aren't that old and that most people get a new car every four years. I'm about to get my first car and when I told her I was thinking about getting a used car (like a Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, or Toyota Camry) and I told her it would be about 12 years old or so she said that was too old and that it would start breaking down. What's wrong with getting a car that old? Some people tell me a reason for her view is because she always mainly owned American cars and isn't really aware of the reliability of companies like Honda and Toyota. However, I know that any Accord, Altima, or Camry is going to last longer than a Taurus.
