Ford Taurus 2003, AC compressor clutch failed, took it off but wondering if I need to replace the accumulator and orifice tube
Ford Taurus 2003, AC compressor clutch failed, took it off but wondering if I need to replace the accumulator and orifice tube? Thanks?
Added (1). Please note that I haven't done this A/C work before. I pulled the service manual and following it step by step but if you have any other inputs please let me know. Really appreciate the help. Planning to replace the compressor but not sure about the accumulator or the orifice tube. These are all original parts so it has been for 16 years!
If the electric clutch simply burned out and you replaced the electric clutch it's not necessary to replace the accumulator in the orifice. But if your compressor seized up there's probably all kinds of particles of metal and rubber throughout your system.
The AC compressor clutch doesn't have 134a going through it. You only need to flush the system and replace the parts you mentioned if the Compressor locks up. If you have to replace the compressor and clutch as a unit you still are okay because the compressor didn't seize up.

- My transmission has failed due to a recalled part does Ford have to replace the whole transmission or just the recalled part? I have a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan one night when I was driving home the transmission went out on it while I was on the highway. After doing some research we found that the torque converter is a recalled part on this model. If the torque converter is the reason for the transmission failure does Ford have to replace my whole transmission as well or just the torque converter?
