If the car isn't overheating and shows a "normal" temperature (assuming you have a gauge) then it's unlikely the thermostat needs to be replaced.

The most common "no heat" culprit is low coolant. Even though it's low enough to leave the heater core empty, it may have enough in the block & radiator to keep the engine happy. Check the coolant first. Do it with the engine cold. Check the reservoir AND take off the radiator cap.

Some of those Fords have cooling systems that are prone to having air trapped in them. Look to see if there's a vent near the top/front of the engine. You may need to loosen/remove a vent bolt while filling the coolant.

If that's not the problem, I'd suspect a temperature control that works a valve allowing coolant into the heater core and/or controls a door that directs air through the heater core. If the temperature control lever/knob moves with no resistance at all, this would be a likely cause.

There's likely nothing wrong with your heater core (YEAH! These can be a bear! LOTS of work) and they would be unlikely to clog up (unless somebody used "Bars Leaks") so looking into the above *should* solve your problem.

Flush it out ad new fluids if still no heat try checking your control knobs. I tried all of the above on one of my cars to find out it was in the controls. Went to wreckers bought a used set and had great heat.

Air lock or other blockage in the heater pipes.

If you have an automatic climate control system i would suspect an issue with the control head, also check if you have a heater control valve that may be stuck shut
