2003 Ford Taurus SES heat not working correctly?
The thermostat will be up to temp where it should be reading on my dash, I also have plenty of antifreeze in and I'm almost positive that wouldn't be my problem…
When I turn the the heat on I will get decently hot air blow out for a few seconds and then it'll immediately turn to cold air… What do you guys think?
Hopefully it's a fuse I'm thinking
Like Geo said, it could be the blend door actuator OR it could be the heater core. I have the 01 Taurus with the same issue. The engine would get up to temperature, I'd turn on the heat, and if I was lucky, I might get about 5-10 seconds of warm air before going back to cold air.
My dad took a look at it and said that it was the heater core that was clogged. We had to replace it and it now blows hot air. Unfortunately, replacing the heater core is rather labor intensive. When my dad worked at a local Ford dealership, they would charge $500+ to replace heater cores due to the amount of time it takes to get to the heater core.
HI so it's not so simple as a fuse. This suggests it is a faulty thermostat which is not opening fully and needs to be replaced.
You need to check the coolant level in the radiator. Not just the reservoir tank.
A bad blend door actuator that constantly moves from the hot position to cold position may also happen but it's not common.
- Why isn't my 1999 Ford Windstar heat not working? Last winter was pretty cold and I have been working to try fixing my heating problem. I took it to a shop and he said I'd have to take it to the dealer. My budget isn't that high so I replaced the blend door acuator myself and that didn't fix my problem. Not sure what to even try. My A/C works fine and air will blow out but absolutely no heat. Need Help!
- What Ford Taurus bumpers (front or rear) would fit a 2003 ford Taurus ses? Looking around and seen someone with a 2004 front bumper on a 2003. Looks nice but curious if any other bumpers would fit? I installed new centennial edition headlights with Silver Star Ultra lights. here's what it looks like so far.

I plain to buy what I need from advance auto parts online or maybe even ebay? But not sure what degree elbows I need to have my intake go straight from the throttle throught the fender hole down through the wheel well. Added (1). The picture is of a 2004 ford Taurus, mine is pretty much the same
