Should I Buy a Diesel Truck?

I'm 17 going on 18 with a steadig good paying job, I'm driving a 1995 Silverado on 35's right now as my DD, it averages 8MPG on the Hwy and has 175,000 miles. I live in Southern IL, I can see KY from my house, and am going to Peoria IL for college in a few months. I have had consistent problems out of my truck, to the point I don't trust it out of a 50mile radious of my home, plus the 8MPG. I live on a large farm and my truck is often put thru its paces daily, but I can't really haul heavy load cause its lifted, I'm looking into buying a Diesel 3/4 - 1 Ton NON-Dually Truck, Cummins get the best MPG stock, and Duramax is the most comfortable, but I'm not really worried about that, I wouldn't drive a dirtymax anyway, I like Cummins, I like their History, but I'm a big Ford Diesel Fan, I'm looking into an 06-07 6.0L Powerstroke with low miles, I'd like to drive it for a long time, with a Crew Cab, my trucks a 2Door Long bed and have not cabin space, I'm looking at the Diesel for Fuel Mileage, 18-22, Crew Cab for Space, Longevity of a Diesel saying it's going to be drive'n a lot, and the Power/Torque/Weight for Towing on the Farm, I know the 6.0L Powerstrokes had lots of problems in 03-04-05 but all I've heard is that the 06-07's were great trucks, so give me ya'lls opinion, no descrimination but be honest, want the opinions, thanks ya'll

Why is my car vibrating past 50 mph?

About a week ago, I had the tires rotated on my 1998 Ford Contour. Before the rotation, the car had a poor alignment and pulled slightly to the right, especially at higher speeds. However, there was no vibration at speeds of 45 mph and over. That is what I'm getting now after getting the tires rotated.
When I get to highway speeds of about 45-65 mph, I get the vibration. However, when I get past about 70 or so, the vibration lessens. I do have one tire that is slightly more worn than the other three, but it's on the rear (car is front-wheel drive). The tires in front were purchased together and are evenly worn. I'm also certain the tire rotation itself was done correctly.

Do I just need to get my tires balanced?

Note: I had an alignment done because I thought that may have been the problem, but it wasn't. Car just doesn't pull to the right like it used to.

Were the 1989 Ford Probes first launched before September 1988?

I know model years usually come up in September of the previous calendar year. Were the first 1989 Ford Probes on sale or released before September 1988?

Typically the new model year cars show up around September of the previous calendar year. But sometimes manufacters will release models before that. Ford did the same thing with the Ford Probe, it was released around March/April 1988 as a 1989 model.

Is car detailing hard work? And any other info?

I'm a girl, and I recently just turned 17. I was offered the position for a car detailer at ford. The hours are m-f 8am to 5pm. With every other Saturday off. People are telling me it's a really hard job physically wise. Any information?

Does my Ford E-150 van need to be running when doing a diagnostic OBD II scan tool?

My van started giving me trouble a month ago but only when it was wet outside. It would sputter here and there but nothing major. I assumed it just needed a good tune up since I just bought this van in January and I'm sure the prior owners didn't care to spend more money on a car they were selling. So it finally it died on me while I was driving, sputtering out. It will crank but won't kick in. So I did the tune up- changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires. ( No distributor cap on my model) It started and ran for a minute then died and now I'm back to square one. My check engine light is NOT on and the fuse for the dash is fine. (but my cigarette lighter fuse isn't working) Anyways, I got an OBD II/ EOBD scan tool to run a diagnostic anyway since I figured it wouldn't hurt and I'm trying to eliminate everything I can so I can close in on the specific problem. The scanner said " NO CODES FOUND" but, as I said earlier, the van isn't running. Will the fact that the van isn't running cause this reading? Do I need to get it running to get an accurate read from the scanner? Do you have any idea about what might be wrong? I checked the fuel pump, and the air filter, and they're both good.

Unfortunately for me, it's been raining since I broke down 2 days ago and still is! So I can't be sure if the moisture is really causing all this. My auto info is below. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

2000 Ford E150 1/2 ton Van 8 Cylinders L 5.4L EFI
120,000mi.

Added (1). Yes, the vehicle has to be on. The issue was my fuel pump. I checked the fuel line- no fuel coming out. Tested the volts going to fuel pump, that checked out fine. I went to used parts store, bought a used fuel pump for $75, and replaced it myself. I actually cut out a square above the fuel tank w/ a saw to gain easy access to the pump. This saved me 4 hours since I didn't have to drop the entire tank! (you can see it on youtube - "replacing fuel pump without dropping tank! E-150") Thanks everyone!

What are the most reliable cars you can think of?

I want something relatively new, but it doesn't have to be brand spanking new.

So far I was thinking a Volkswagen Jetta. I was also liking Subaru, but I don't know whether the impreza or legacy is better. I also like Ford Crown Victoria/Mercury Grand Marquis'. Are Jeep wranglers reliable as well?

Mention any car you like and why,

Hmu with your best suggestion!

2005 Mercury Montego & 2006 Ford Five Hundred Transmissions?

I'm looking at a 2006 Ford Five Hundred with 76k miles on it.
My dad had a 2005 Mercury Montego and the transmission went bad at 80k miles.
I want to know if they used the same transmission in the '06 Ford Five Hundred that they put it in the '05 Mercury Montego.
