How to get the spare key for my car?
I lost the key to my Ford car and do not even have a spare. How can I get a replacement key?
My first suggestion is to you would be to visit the Ford dealer nearby. Although if it is an issue for you, you can also contact a locksmith service. They can also make an alternate key for you which you ca use.
Just visit your nearby Ford dealer and get the spare key. Or else give a call to your nearby Locksmith. They will reach the spot immediately and do the needful for you.
If don't find the one, just get help from this team http://www.locksmithmtl.ca/
Call an automotive locksmith.
Go to the ford dealer with proof of ownership, vin number of the car, id for you and they can get you a key. It won't be cheap but it will get you back on the road. You have to prove to them that you own the car.
Matt is right. First, if you can still open the car, check the back of the owner's manual, as it will tell you about a "chip", or transponder key, if there's one used for it. With the year and model of your Ford in mind, then make some calls. If yours just needs a simple key, you're almost done, but will pay a chunk for that service call to go to the car.
Note that locksmiths can program many transponder keys, as can other places - we do so at our Ace Hardware stores. Unfortunately, there are a few different approaches to these systems, and some folks will in fact have to go to the dealer. If your key was also an integrated remote control, with a few little buttons on it, you're in that group. With some cars - including some Fords - you have to have both original keys to get a third made.
You may have to go to the Ford dealer and get one--and that could cost you over $150. If your key had a "chip" in it, you can't get a locksmith to make one for you. At least the one they make will not have the chip--it might unlock the car, but it won't START the car. I had this problem--the locksmith was able to make a key that unlocked the doors, but the key would not start the car. And the replacement for my car cost a lot at the dealer.
- Lost my only key to my car. It's an 02 ford taurus station wagon and has a chip in the key? Ordered and blank key. Going to get it cut then have it programmed. I have an extra key that will unlock my doors but won't start the car because it doesn't have a chip and isn't programmed for my car. Can I use my key that unlocks the door to get it cut and then use my vin to have them program it?

- If I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner and have the key below could I use the standard key and remote? What I mean by standard remote and key is like the ones Ford, Mecury, and Lincoln came out with at first with just a remote and key. Also how would an extra key cost like the one in the picture above? Would it be cheaper to do the the standard key and remote?
