Think my clutch is on it's way out?

The biting point in my 2005 Ford KA is very high, I practically have my foot all the way up to get any revs out of it. I also find it hard most of the time putting it into First gear and also in reverse. Would this be an expensive problem to fix? And what is the likely cause?

If it can't be adjusted out then your clutch is worn out and will need replacement.

The position of the pedal has nothing to do with whether the clutch is going. When a clutch goes it slips. That's the only was of knowing.

It does sound like your clutch is having issues. HOWEVER, You might check your clutch fluid and see how low it is. It should be a small blue tank next to your brake system (master cylinder) under the hood. Fill it to its optimum level and hopefully your clutch will last you many more years. From what you described it sounds like there isn't enough pressure in your hydraulic clutch system. That could either be low fluid or just a bad clutch obviously. Repairs are about 500 here in Kansas but vary by state and income. Causes are just general wear and tear.

Replace the clutch

  • Help truck isn't going into gear and when I let the clutch out it does? I have a 2001 standard Ford ranger. I barely had a new clutch put in last year. But anyway I was going down highway in 5th gear and as I was going to put it in neutral it made a loud popping noise and then died. So I went to the side of the road and tried starting it, nothing. It starts up fine but the minute I let off the clutch it dies and when I try to shift it into 1 3 or 5 it feels like some thing is blocking it it'll act like it goes into 2 an 3 but it doesn't engage.
