How to diagnose clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder clutch is solid will not disengage can't push in at all?

94 Ford Ranger V6 4.0 2 wheel drive my clutch went solid while driving last night it will not disengage wondering how to diagnose if it's the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder please help no fluid leaking anywhere I'm hoping it's just the master I would be the cheap and easy one just don't know how to tell which one is bad

Neither. Its a pressure plate problem

The slave combo throw-out bearing is seized up, open the bleeder and the pedal will move to check the master cylinder pedal operation. Since it's a combination part on the gear box input shaft, the transmission and driveshaft must be removed to replace it. I would spend a few extra $ to get the better quality Napa part, stay away from the plastic replacements. That's ford, plastic parts like the infamous plastic brake caliper pistons.

Clutch disc itself may be worn out. Meaning replacing that. The clutch master cylinder you can see if it leaks(or lacks fluid) or clutch linkage is binding. A mechanic can tell you what he figures it is because he can feel it out and test it. A clutch pedal gets harder to push in as the disc wears out.

  • Clutch will not disengage can't push in at all? My 94 Ford Ranger V6 4.0 2 wheel drive clutch will not disengage I'm hoping it's just the clutch master cylinder but I do not know how to diagnose if it's the master or the slave
  • 1990 ford ranger clutch master cylinder? My master cylinder broke so i replaced it it has a hard line going from master cylinder to slave cylinder anyone know how to connect the hard line on my new master cylinder
  • I bought an Actron CP9125 Code Reader to try and diagnose a rough idle at cold start on a 98 Ford 4.0 engine. The rough idle had not caused? The CEL to come on. I plugged the code reader in with just the key on and pressed read and the little asterisk goes half-way across the screen one time and stops. I press the read button again and it reads 0 codes. I was thinking it would scan multiple times to check for pending codes or other issues. I tried it with the engine running and the same thing happens. Is this code reader operating properly?
  • Clutch slave cylinder union? I have a ford focus 2001 1.4 16v car. I recently had the clutch changed while this was done my mechanic can't get this union back on as it has a hairline split. I'm now looking to find this part however I can't find it. Unless I buy a whole new clutch pipe is there anyway to get this part without the pipe? And does anyone know what part exactly it is? This is my first car, and I'm not 100npercent sure.
