Why doesn't the clutch rod want to come out?

I'm in the process of removing my 2004 ford ranger 2.3 clutch master cylinder. I already disconnected the electrical switch from the clutch pedal position switch, removed the switch, disconnected the pedal to the pushrod. The pushrod doesn't want to come out and O don't see anything holding it in? Any insight?

Because it is connected to the master cylinder. Duh.

Remove the mount bolts and pull the master cylinder from the OUTSIDE. You have to disconnect the (b-nuts) tubing first.

You sure you'r not pulling on the brake booster rod? Just take the master cylinder loose form the brake lines and booster and pull it out from inside the motor compartment.
