I have a 1986 ford with the C6 tranny on a motorhome what fluid does it take?
It looks like from what I was reading that type F is what will work but then I ran across info that states its only used in c6's from the 70's. Am I ok using type F? Also this vehicle is new to me is there anyway to tell what fluid type is in it now?
I would use the today's commonly produced general Mercon/Dexron III ATF. It's much better than the Type F and in the '80s, Ford was using Mercon for a while.
- Why did my 2000 Ford Windstar just blow all off the tranny fluid out. But now its not leaking anything? I drove it with a trailer attached all day then I dropped the trailer off and drove home. When a was turning on to my street the car violently shuck but kept going I pulled into my drive way and looked under my car and big puddle of tranny fluid everywhere. So I filled it up this morning and drove it 75 miles and when I got back I was still full on fluid and nothing was leaking. So WHY?
- When did Ford (Mercury, etc) stop using Type F Auto tranny fluid in their vehicles? Sometimes… Living in a redneck town will amaze you. Especially noticing how low the average I.Q. Is…
- What type of transmission fluid does a 2007 Ford Five Hundred Sel take? My car needs more transmission fluid but i don't know which one and my mechanic told me it needs a specific type of fluid. And i don't have the owner s manual.
- How is the fluid from my radiator on my 1996 Ford Thunderbird mixing with my auto transmission fluid? I've asked and asked and no one seems to have an answer. Please any ideas would be helpful to give me some sort of clue as to where to start to get this fixed. The car still runs fine but its starting to effect the gears changing. Please any ideas would help.
