What type of transmission fluid does a 2007 Ford Five Hundred Sel take?
My car needs more transmission fluid but i don't know which one and my mechanic told me it needs a specific type of fluid. And i don't have the owner s manual.
Any national auto supply store will be able to help you.
Download your manual and see what it says or go to a parts store and ask.
Yes - the manual will say… Hopefully you know whether you have the conventional automatic or the CVT.
Your mechanic should have topped it up when he discovered it was low! Sounds like a lube boy not a mechanic!
There are two different types of transmissions for your car, one was a continuously variable (CVT) and it requires very specific fluid. It would be best if you went to your nearest Ford Dealer and asked their parts guy to come out and have a look for you and then sell you - preferably install, the correct fluid.
It should tell you in your service manual that came with the car!

- Ford Five Hundred tune up time? Wife's car is an 05 Ford Five hundred 3.0 Has around 113,000 miles on it and it is definitely time for a tune up. Shops are quoting me with and without the boots. There's no engine light on yet nor has she reported any difference in drive-ability only the gas mileage has gone down a lot. So should the boots get changed too or not?
