How too remove 94 ford thunderbird power steering pump?
Do I have too take the pulley off too remove or can it stay attached
If you are going to swap it (core charge) for a rebuilt, keep your pulley. Might be threaded, might be press-on. Do not distort it when trying to get it off, or it will wobble later. Apply heat, should pop off.
If this is a 4.6 the pulley can stay in place. I'm not sure about the v6. Getting the line off is tough. If you remove the oil filter it helps.
usually they all need the pulley removed
- If my power steering pump and pulley break, is there any other parts I may have to potentially replace? Last night when I was driving, my power steering pump busted and also broke my power steering pulley. I have a 2002 ford Taurus. In the process of the pulley breaking off, the serpentine belt came off. It is still on the car so I just have to re position it once the new pulley is on. My question is through this incident, could anything else have broken? I just did a bypass pulley for the AC compressor last week. And I also replaced the serpentine belt last week.
- Why does my power steering pump squal when I turn? I have checked the fluid and it fine… It is a 2000 ford ranger with 4.0 V6 engine. It has a 3 inch body life and oversize mud tires… Would large tires cause it to whine? Or do I need to just change my pump?
- When changing the power steering pump on a KA (54) can you use PTFE tape to seal the pressure line from pump? I have changed the power steering pump on a ford KA (54) and when removing the pressure line from the pump there was some kind of seal on it but I don't know what it was, so I was hopping that PTFE tape would do the same job at sealing the thread. Any help please. Andy.
- Ford f150 2007- making a whining noise, I have replaced power steering pump? I was told by a shade tree mechanic that there was air in the lines, bc while it's running the fluid level in canister is moving around a good bit. What's the line i need to break to drain fluid out completely
