Why does my power steering pump squal when I turn?
I have checked the fluid and it fine… It is a 2000 ford ranger with 4.0 V6 engine. It has a 3 inch body life and oversize mud tires… Would large tires cause it to whine? Or do I need to just change my pump?
The pump is probably worn. Its 15 years old.
I think that might be the serp. Belt squealing, but I'm not familiar with that make and model. When that was happening on my older car, which was a Merc. Sable, it was not long after that that my power steering pump when out.
Check the Belt for Condition & Tightness… It " squeals " because the belt is slipping
- If my power steering pump and pulley break, is there any other parts I may have to potentially replace? Last night when I was driving, my power steering pump busted and also broke my power steering pulley. I have a 2002 ford Taurus. In the process of the pulley breaking off, the serpentine belt came off. It is still on the car so I just have to re position it once the new pulley is on. My question is through this incident, could anything else have broken? I just did a bypass pulley for the AC compressor last week. And I also replaced the serpentine belt last week.
- 1995 Ford Taurus with a steering issue. When I turn the steering wheel to a certain spot left or right it will start moving back and forth? According to previous owner the rack and pinion was previously replaced. Steering wheel Is off a little to the right. Any ideas?
- On my 2000 ford mustang why does my air pump (smog pump) only blow air for 5 seconds after start up? Is that normal? I have p0411 secondary air injection system insufficient flow detected. I've checked the hose that comes out from the pump, it's blowing air but I believe it should blow air for much longer than 5 seconds on start up.
- When changing the power steering pump on a KA (54) can you use PTFE tape to seal the pressure line from pump? I have changed the power steering pump on a ford KA (54) and when removing the pressure line from the pump there was some kind of seal on it but I don't know what it was, so I was hopping that PTFE tape would do the same job at sealing the thread. Any help please. Andy.
