What is does mean horsepower? I have ford freestar 2005 sport edition. I want to know how to calculate hp and what is for my minivan. i read online but didn't get it at all. For my van it says'' HP (hp@rpm) = 201 @ 4250 Torque (lb.ft@rpm) = 263 @ 3650 my van engine can make 6000 rmp what i see in Dashboard. i'm really confused about that.

I have a 2005 Ford F1-50 5.4 liter Triton motor 4wd? When engaging transmission into gear a whining noise is heard that sounds like a worn-out hydraulic pump. The sound of the whining increases as the RPMs increase when pulling a hill or an A grade the whining will also get louder. The whining noise does not exist in park or neutral only when engaged in forward gears and reverse. The level of transmission fluid is perfect and was changed 23,000 miles ago. The overall mileage is 80,000 and has been well maintained since it was bought new by me.
