What is does mean horsepower?

I have ford freestar 2005 sport edition. I want to know how to calculate hp and what is for my minivan.
i read online but didn't get it at all. For my van it says''

HP (hp@rpm) = 201 @ 4250
Torque (lb.ft@rpm) = 263 @ 3650

my van engine can make 6000 rmp what i see in Dashboard.

i'm really confused about that.

An internal combustion engine has a horsepower curve. At different RPMs it will make different amounts of horsepower. 201 @ 4250 means the engine makes a maximum of 201 hp at 4250 RPM.

They test cars on dynamometers to see what horsepower they make at all the different speeds, and there's a curve they print sometimes called the 'power curve'. Some engines have a relatively flat power curve, and that makes them easier to drive. High performance engines tend to have a steeper power curve so you have to keep the engine revved up near the redline to get the power out of it. This is why racing motorcycles make that annoying whining noise.

As rpm increases, hp and torque increase, but those two ratings are not synchronized. After a point they start dropping. At idle, your engine might be producing 20 HP, but that increases to 201hp when the engine is running at 4250 rpm. Those numbers could be lower at 6000 rpm. They want to tell you numbers you can brag about.
