It depends on the condition and what flavor Fairlane you are talking about. A rust & dent free, two door, big block, manual transmission car will cost more than a wrecked & rusty four door sedan that originally had a 6 cylinder engine.

So what are you considering?

There are so many parts to "restore" it. With it being post 64 there are a lot of engines that would be "period correct" and transmissions to go with them.
Stating a price for this old of a car is impossible with out seeing it and with me not being an appraiser my estimate is worthless.
If the car is sound (not a bucket of rusts and this is most important in the main structure members that are out of sight) I would suggest 2000 dollars is not too much provided it has a clear title. Please realize that to invest that kind of money you must be willing to invest at least 10,000 dollars to get it road worthy. It might be more and it could be less. But if you are not willing to invest a lot of money to fix it, walk away and leave it for some one who will. Also unless you have a designated work shop that can hold the equivalent of two cars and two years worth of work into it, walk away.
It is not about it being a good deal or a bad deal, it is a question of if you will complete the project or not! I know of those who bought a rusted hulk that completed the task and had a show winner. I also know of those who found an almost perfect car and ended up with a pile of scrap metal. The difference was determination to complete the task!
