Ford model t good first car?
A Ford Model T.
You're 100 yrs too late.
Ha ha ha!
Hi No it was the first production car. Many had been made before the french di Dion was the first car ever produced but hand built.
Are you out of your mind? You don't buy collector cars for your first and only ride!
You can imagine the phone call to the insurance company… "First car… No problem Sir… Its a WHAT"?
As cars go for it's period it was a great car!
Few of us know how to operate the transmission (the floor pedals had to be depressed to determine what gear it was in). The problems with hand cranking one to start it are just not part of most peoples desire to master. The electric starter was an option so plan on paying extra for that. Then there's the issue of how to operate the throttle and timing advance.
The redeeming characteristic is that all you need to repair it most of the time is bailing wire and a pair of pliers.
Top speed 45 mph, so it can't use the freeway.
Also don't plan on having a heated car- dress warm. Heaters were often less then desired (if at all, again an option on some models or none at all).
Cars based on the model T make good hot rods. These are a construction project and if purchased already made a nightmare trying to figure out what replacement parts to use.
No
Duesenburg with a straight 8 would have more umph.
We asking about the original model T? Or using initial for ford thunderbird?
T model was Fords first real offering and was at the time well received and they produced in tens of thousands. It has been commented on that Henry Ford put the world on wheels!
the thunderbird different kettle of fish. Now good examples highly sought after.
in any case you need to expand on question to elicit better answers, e.g. For owning? Driving? Spares? Investment? Etc
The original Model T only had 20 horsepower and could only reach a top speed of 45 mph downhill with a tailwind.
- Is a 2008 Ford Taurus X a good first car? I'm a 16 year old guy and I want a 2008 Ford Taurus X Limited AWD as my first car. I need AWD for snow. How reliable are they? Will it last? Does it have transmission problems? Taurus X. Not the little car. The SUV. I want the MDX but, it takes premium fuel and that costs too much. Outback doesn't have a third row seat.
- I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?
