Is it safe to tow using a 2013 ford focus?

I will be driving across the country with a small trailer that will be filled with a bed, bed frame, and some boxes and I'm wondering if it is safe to use my 2013 Ford Focus SE (I still would have to get a hitch for it.)

Contact Ford to see if your vehicles weight will accommodate such a long trip. Be prepared with a roadside assistance plan, and spares! My opinion is that you are better off renting a vehicle that can accommodate your belongings, and opt for the tow bar to bring your focus with you. It would be a sad story if Mayhem struck in such a new car!

I would tow with it. Either put it on a tow dolly and pull it with a truck or rent a truck and trailer from uhaul and tow it. The hitch they show is for only 200 lbs tongue weight and 2000 total trailer weight. So not big enough to pull anything.

From page 217 of your owners manual…

"WARNING: Never tow a trailer with this vehicle. Your vehicle is
not equipped to tow. No towing packages are available through
an authorized dealer."
