I need help using an Ipod with my Ford Focus?

I have just bought a 9-yer-old Ford Focus. I would like to but a cheap Ipod so that I can play tracks from my iTunes in the car. The owners manual hints, (without actually saying), that only certain Ipods will be compatible with the car. Does that sound right? If it is not the case, can I but any functioning Ipod and reasonably expect it to work with the car?

Take your car to a car audio shop. It is way better than guessing.

If you do not have a cassette player then you might have to have a aftermarket radio installed. I did it myself. It was very easy. I got the radio for under $150. But you can take it to a professional audio shop and they can do it for you.

If the radio has an AUX port, you should be able to plug in any device to it. No port, no go.

I've got a Fiesta about the same age - not the same car but a lot of things are similar to the Focus so my experience might help. On my car, when I removed the radio (special tools required for that) I found a pair of unused AUX connectors on the back (RCA connectors, I think). It was easy enough to connect a cable to them and run it to my MP3 player / phone etc. This is a factory option, so the radio is set up to receive these signals.

When I first tried it, I got some irritating electrical noise from the engine. I added a cheap ground loop isolator which cured the problem.

Hi No as the ford was not equipped with bluetooth till 2010 so this one was not fitted with this as standard package

  • Is it safe to tow using a 2013 ford focus? I will be driving across the country with a small trailer that will be filled with a bed, bed frame, and some boxes and I'm wondering if it is safe to use my 2013 Ford Focus SE (I still would have to get a hitch for it.)
