2007 Ford F150 4.6L Blown Spark Plug (Triton Series)?
My sister in laws truck began making the loud noise from the engine. I popped the hood to check and can feel the pressure of air shooting out. I attempted to drive it home which is about 2 miles and it blew the coil and plug out half ways home. It died once it blew it out and i pulled off to the side. I tried to start it again and it did for a second and died again. Now it won't start at all. I had to pull her truck home with my truck. So i'm going to attempt to repair this. I've read somewhere that the truck should've still stayed on even with the blown plug and that if it died, something else could be wrong with it. Anyone got any info on the possiblility of it dying with the blown spark plug? Let me know thanks.
For a start, you need an ODBII code reader.
When I had a problem with my 2005 F150 I found a site called Just Answers. For a small fee you can chat with a mechanic and diagnose the problem.
First check to see if there are any threads left in the spark plug hole. If not, you'll have to install a time sert. Google it
Most parts stores carry the tool so you can repair it. Not easy and a pain in the ***
The threads on the spark plug that blown out still had excellent threads on it. I've tried my obd reader on it but I think it ain't compatible with this year of truck because it ain't connecting with the truck. The ear of the coil broke off so that needs replacing. I check the fuel intertia switch and that tripped. So the pressed it and tried but still no luck. Gotta probably tow it to autzone to get the codes read
- I have a 1976 Ford F150 with a 390 engine. Can anyone tell me what the spark plug gap should be? Don't answer if you don't know. And don't answer if you are just trying to be a wise guy.
- 1999 ford f150 v6 rough idle and spark plug questipn? My 99 Ford f150 is a v6 and I'm having a rough idea or a miss while my foots on the brake and its in gear it idles like it wants to die. I just noticed the 3 plug wired on the passenger side were burnt so I imagine its spark knocking. But my question is what plugs should I use and is this my only problem causing the rough idle? But should I go with e3s?
- On 2002 ford explorer 4.6l the spark plug is drowning in fluid? Happen before on rear cylinder #4 w/ antifreeze from crack in upper intake manifold drowning out the spark plug. So I replaced it, now #2 is doing it, but it seems more like water than antifreeze. It does seem to happen when wet or rainy out. Could it be possible to get that much water up to the top of the engine to settle around my worn out seal for a spark plug boot?
- Is it safe to drive with a blown out spark plug? Would it be ok to drive 1999 ford expedition with a blown out spark plug, just a short distance with speed not exceeding 25 mph.
