Is it safe to drive with a blown out spark plug?
Would it be ok to drive 1999 ford expedition with a blown out spark plug, just a short distance with speed not exceeding 25 mph.
All I had to do was read your first sentence: It happens to Ford discontinued engines every day! Haul the car to where someone changes the cylinder head. More than likely it will have to be a Ford Dealership.
Not sure what you mean by blown out. If you mean that you know for a fact that there's nothing inside the cylinder then yeah i would do it if it wasn't to far. Speed shouldnt matter. Its not going to explode. What could be bad if you have bits of a spark plug that fell inside the cylinder… Dunno how that could happen but you say blown out and you have eyes on it so that is your call.--If you do it unplug the injector so you are not pushing fuel that won't be used back into the exhaust/out plug hole etc etc. You also don't want all that fuel washing down you cyl walls either.--just my 2 cents in the end its your auto, your choice.
I don't think it would be very safe at all. If its a short distance, just walk.
Where do you think the piston is going to push the air fuel mixture? How about right under your hood. And how about all the dirt that'll get sucked in during the intake stroke?
So drive it if you want to destroy the engine or start a fire. Tow it. It'll be the best $100 you ever spent.
- I have a 1976 Ford F150 with a 390 engine. Can anyone tell me what the spark plug gap should be? Don't answer if you don't know. And don't answer if you are just trying to be a wise guy.
- 1999 ford f150 v6 rough idle and spark plug questipn? My 99 Ford f150 is a v6 and I'm having a rough idea or a miss while my foots on the brake and its in gear it idles like it wants to die. I just noticed the 3 plug wired on the passenger side were burnt so I imagine its spark knocking. But my question is what plugs should I use and is this my only problem causing the rough idle? But should I go with e3s?
- On 2002 ford explorer 4.6l the spark plug is drowning in fluid? Happen before on rear cylinder #4 w/ antifreeze from crack in upper intake manifold drowning out the spark plug. So I replaced it, now #2 is doing it, but it seems more like water than antifreeze. It does seem to happen when wet or rainy out. Could it be possible to get that much water up to the top of the engine to settle around my worn out seal for a spark plug boot?
- My car won't accelerate after a spark plug change? So I changed my spark plugs bit now my car won't accelerate I have a ford escape 06 3.0. While I was changing my spark plugs I unplugged a few hoses from the intake manifold but I plugged them all back in right. I'm gonna put the old spark plugs back to see if they were defective. Is that a possibility? The car turns on but when I step on the gas it won't accelerate at all. But it moves at 2 - 5mph of course. What are other possibilities for this kind of problem.
