Added (1). I have to change a leaky seal on the passenger rear, i know I will lose some fluid, not sure what to put back in it, or how much for that matter? All I have found on google is the 75-140 full synthetic,2.9 qts on a complete fill. But all were for 4 wheel drive models, mine is a rear wheel drive, it may be the same, I do not want to risk being wrong.

What could be causing the vibration traveling through my gas pedal to my foot?

Recently I had to get up in speeds of about 100-110 mph for about 2-4 miles straight. After a bit of high speed my front end started to vibrate really bad.So when I heard it, I let off the gas, and came back down to regular speeds of 55-60 mph. The extreme vibration eventually disappeared. Now I notice whenever I accelerate from a stop sign, or stop light, or wherever once I get up to about 35 mph there's a vibration/shudder traveling through my gas pedal, and I can feel it in my foot. When I let off the gas, it stops. When I'm at a constant speed it doesn't vibrate either. The vibration is not so bad I can't take it, but it's not normal, and wasn't doing this, before I had to do 110 mph. There's not vibration when I step on the brake! For 411 it is not my brakes or rotors. I have a 2000 Ford Explorer V8.

2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Key Problem?

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with 142K miles on it. I only have ONE key. The problem is the drivers door lock is acting up and being very difficult to use to unlock the truck. Passenger side and ignition locks still work for now. If I change out all four locks (Ignition, 2 door locks and the tailgate (hardly ever used and might not bother with. About how much would a locksmith charge to program two keys for the ignition switch? And how much to key all locks alike?

Car won't start except when jump started and battery is good?

My girlfriend has a a Ford Explorer sport trac, she has a bad habit of leaving the lights on and killing the battery. Had to jump start it quite a few times. Well, yesterday she did the same thing so I went and jump started it. She was able to drive home with no problems (20-30min drive). The next day her car wouldn't start, not even try and crank, no clicks, nothing. I had the day off so I took her to work and went to test battery at shop, battery is fine. I put battery back in her car and turned ignition to on position and radio and everything worked. I tried to crank it, nothing again, no clicks, no power on radio or lights. I jump start it, it runs and I let it run for a bit, shut it off, try again, and nothing. Just for the heck of it, I went and got a new cheap battery just to see if the shop may have been wrong, they werent. I don't think it's the alternator as it will run for awhile without dying, or the starter because it starts fine if using jumper cables. No corrosion on terminals. Don't know what else to look for. Any help?

What size rims should i get?

Why are American cars to different compared to European?

For example, Chevy Tahoe, Dodge Ram, Ford Explorer etc. Those kind of cars are only sold in N.America and not in Europe. Why?

US cars are so big, wide and heavy! But why are they like that? Why can't you never find these kind of cars in Europe?

Also, this American "stereotype", take a look at US police cars, or the NYC yellow cabs. They have that "American" style of cars which you would NEVER find in Europe

What will happen if my Transmission dies while I'm driving?

So, I drive a 1997 Ford Explorer (about 175k miles).
I recently had my transmission fluid changed. It was black and tarry and my mechanic showed me 3 rivets that he found in the pan. He said that means I have about two left and when they go, my transmission is dead. He said they could fall off any time from right now to years and years from now. But it would be the best idea to just start car shopping…

I'm, but I d like to milk it until I can find a good deal on a decent car. Probably another month or so if possible…

So basically, if I lose the last two rivets (I'm assuming I d lose the belt at that point?) while driving… What is likely to happen? Is it something I should risk?

TL/DR: Transmission in 97 Ford Explorer is losing rivets. What happens if it dies while I'm driving?
