Added (1). I have to change a leaky seal on the passenger rear, i know I will lose some fluid, not sure what to put back in it, or how much for that matter? All I have found on google is the 75-140 full synthetic,2.9 qts on a complete fill. But all were for 4 wheel drive models, mine is a rear wheel drive, it may be the same, I do not want to risk being wrong.
Most require you to add enough gear oil until it overflows out the fill port. Unless yours has a dipstick, I'd use that procedure. Check your owner's manual or go online for the info. You shouldn't need too much unless it all drains out (most likely won't happen on your project). If you lose very little oil (I would say less than a 1/8th cup), you probably won't need to add any friction modifier. It doesn't look like you can use any run-of-the-mill gear oil. It h as to be synthetic with a friction modifieradded. Your differential probably holds 2.5 qts.
I would go with the 85W-90. Just fill it up to the bottom of the fill plug. It doesn't matter how much it takes.
