Is a Ford Explorer a good first car? - 1
I'm a 16 year old guy and I'm shopping around for my first car. I'm used to driving trucks and SUVs because that's what most people in my family have. My dad used to have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD. I really liked that vehicle. I have been looking on eBay, craigslist, and autotrader for one just like my dad's old Explorer. I have done my research and it seems to be that everyone who has one, loves it. I was looking the other day and I came across this one. I really like it. I can find any flaws (other than the radio, I'm not a big fan of aftermarket). Here's the link.

Added (1). Please don't tell me they're junk. The one my dad had was great. We only had to put brakes on it and do matainence that every car requires. My aunt has had a 2000 Explorer Sport since 2003 and it's still going strong.
Any vehicle can be a good car. First off, as long as the oil is checked and regular tune-up are done everything should be okay. A ford explorer is a pretty good vehicle. I would just read reviews on it. It sounds like you loved your dads explorer so you've already answered your question for yourself. Get an explorer bro! Have a good day!
Actually no. For a 16 year old sedan is easier to handle than an SUV. The blindspots and parking will be more challenging in an explorer than a sedan
Also for a beginner, reversing an explorer will be far more challenging than reversing a car like Toyota corolla
I don't have anything against Ford brands. In fact they are more comfortable and have more leg room then Toyotas. But for a starter SUV doesn't seem like the right choice
My son drives a '96 Explorer Limited. It's a great car, but doesn't get great gas mileage. If paying for gas is a concern for you, don't buy a truck or SUV.
An Explorer is a perfect first car, especially an older Explorer. This way so you can learn how to properly care for the car and you can drive around in it with no remorse of getting it dented or scratched unlike if you bought a newer vehicle.
- Is a 2008 Ford Taurus X a good first car? I'm a 16 year old guy and I want a 2008 Ford Taurus X Limited AWD as my first car. I need AWD for snow. How reliable are they? Will it last? Does it have transmission problems? Taurus X. Not the little car. The SUV. I want the MDX but, it takes premium fuel and that costs too much. Outback doesn't have a third row seat.
- I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?
